Tip 1: @highlight in Facebook Comments
If you have a comment that you want all your friends to be notified of, simply type @ and select @highlight from the options. This will notify all your Facebook friends not currently on the page.
Tip 2: Add Text Effects – Congratulations, BFF, Best Wishes and More
You might have noticed that Facebook comments are now colorful (kind of). Certain words in comments appear in a different style. For instance, congrats is the most popular one on my timeline. Have you ever clicked on that congrats text? It triggers a cool animation.
All you need to do to activate them is to enter the supported words/phrases in the comments. Here is the list of some of the Facebook Text Delight words.
Tip 3: Add Reactions
You know those situations where you don’t want to reply to a comment yet want to acknowledge it? Thankfully, similar to posts, you can also add reactions to comments. Usually, Facebook supports seven emoji reactions but keeps adding new ones for a limited time.
To react to a comment, hover your mouse over the Like button or long-tap the Like button (if you are using the mobile app). Then, select the emoji that you want to use.
Tip 4: Edit Comments
Humans make mistakes. Unlike X, which doesn’t let you edit tweets, Facebook is cool with edits. It lets you edit posts and comments. Any time you feel there is a mistake in the comment you posted (beware, grammar Nazis are everywhere), you can edit it.
Step 1:Click the ellipses in front of the comment.
Step 2:SelectEdit, then clickEnterafter editing.
Note:You will need to long-press to get theEditoption on a mobile device.
Tip 5: Text Formatting
In addition to the native text effects, you can also format your comments by using age-old formatting techniques such as bold, italic, etc. Since Facebook doesn’t provide these format features natively, you have to use third-party websites to generate the text. Then, you need to copy-paste the text into comments.
You can use the following websites to apply formatting and generate comments in a different font.
Tip 6: Enable Comment Ranking
If you get a lot of comments on your public posts, Facebook tries to make things easy for you with the Comment Ranking setting. Buried under the Facebook settings, the Comment Ranking setting, when turned on, puts the most relevant comments at the top. To enable comment ranking from the website, follow these steps:
Mobile
Step 1:Tap your profile picture at the bottom right.
Step 2:ExpandSettings & privacyand tapSettings.

Tip 7: Customize Public Comments
The above setting lets you play with the ranking of comments only. If you don’t want your followers or random people to comment on your public posts, you can choose who can comment. Facebook provides three settings to choose from: Public, Friends of friends, and Friends.

Note:You can not hide comments that are not on your posts.
Tip 9: Tag People in Comments
Tagging a person will notify the person of your comment. Even if the person is not your friend on Facebook, the comment will be visible to them. You may use it to direct more engagement towards your posts.
To tag someone, you type the @ symbol followed by their username, then write your comment.
Tip 10: Use Video Comments
You may attach a video to a comment rather than using the traditional typed reply. This may be a more engaging and interesting way to relate to a post. You only need to click or tap the camera button under a comment and start recording.
Tip 11: Allow Comment Summaries on Your Posts
Facebook uses the eta AI to generate comment summaries. While this feature may not work for all posts, when it works, you will get a summary of all your comments under a post. To activate this feature, follow these steps:
Mobile
Step 1:Tap your profile picture at the bottom right.
