16 Cool WhatsApp Text Formatting Tricks That You Should Know

1. Make Text Bold
WhatsApp has a built-in feature that lets you make your messages bold. This feature is useful when you need to highlight a critical point.
To do so,add an asterisk (*) before and after the message.
2. Make Text Italic
Similarly, if you want to make the text italic in WhatsApp, you can do that too. Italicizing a text is useful when you want to emphasize an important part.
To do so,add anunderscore (_) before and after the text.
3. Add a Strikethrough on Message
Sometimes, you want to create a dramatic effect of striking out text to represent a correction or iteration. That is possible by adding a line through your message.
To add a line to your message,place a tilde (~) on both sides of the word(s).
4. Change Font Style
WhatsApp also supports Monospace font in addition to the standard font. However, there is no global setting in WhatsApp to change the font for every text. You must change it individually for every message.

6. Make a Numbered List
Just like bullet lists, you can make numbered lists in WhatsApp messages as well. For that, write1, followed by a period (.) and spacebefore the first list item. PressEnterto continue the list of items.

7. Add Quote Block
To highlight or quote a specific part of a message, you can add it in a quote block. For that,add an angle bracket (>) and spacebefore the text.
8. Highlight Text Using Code Block
The final way to format WhatsApp text is by highlighting the text using a code block. For that,enclose the text in backtick (). For example, Hello, how are` you doing?
Note:If can’t find `, long-press the forward tick ´ and select backtick.
Tip:If the above four formats do not work, use them for the first word of the sentence and not in the middle of the message.
9. Change Text Formatting Using WhatsApp Menu
Instead of using the shortcuts to format the text, use the built-in menu.
10. Combine Formatting Options
Whether you are using the shortcuts or the native settings, you can combine different formatting options for one word or sentence. That means you can make the same text bold or italic, and even change its font to Monospace.
To do so, enclose the text in the respective symbols. The only thing you must take care of is their order. The symbol that was entered first will be entered last. For instance, in this word ~disney~, we first entered an asterisk. Now, we will have to put it at the end.
Alternatively, use the touch-and-hold method to change the text format from the menu. First, select one option, then highlight the text again and select another option.
11. Use Online Tools to Format WhatsApp Text
If you have to format a long text message for WhatsApp, using shortcut codes or a menu might seem hectic. An alternative is to use online tools to format text messages for free. Simply enter your text in the tool, apply the formatting using the formatting buttons, and copy the text along with the formatting code into the WhatsApp message.

12. Underline WhatsApp Messages
Unfortunately, WhatsApp doesn’t have a native way to underline messages. However, you can use third-party tools to underline a word in your text message.
Open any underlined text generator website. For instance, you can tryyaytextorglyphy.io. Write your text in the box and tapCopynext to the underlined text. Then, open WhatsApp andpastethe underlined text into it.
13. Change WhatsApp Font Size
Is WhatsApp’s default font size bothering you? Well, you can always change it. Unlike other apps, where the font size is limited to the device’s font, WhatsApp offers a native setting to change the text size.
For that, openSettingsin the WhatsApp app. Go toChatsand tapFontsize. Select the font size you want from the three options: small, medium, and large.
14. Change Color of Message on WhatsApp
One WhatsApp text trick exclusive to Android devices is the ability to change the text color. However, WhatsApp doesn’t officially support this feature. You must download a third-party app calledStylish Fonts. With the help of the app, you can make your text blue.

You must download a third-party app on your Android device that goes by the nameEmoji Letter Maker. In the app, enter the word and preferred emojis. Then, tap thePlus sign (+)button. You will get different options to modify the text. Once done, tap theShare iconinside the Plus sign button to share it with others on WhatsApp.
