2 Ways to Insert Equations in Google Slides

Method 1: Using Menu Options

Google Slides comes with a set of useful menu options. Using these, you can access the special character’s option to add simple equations and fractions to your presentations. Follow the below steps to do it.

Step 1:OpenGoogle Slidesand go to thepresentation. Go to theInsert taband click onSpecial characters.

Step 2:Click the firstdrop-downand selectSymbol. Then, click the seconddrop-downand selectMath.

Step 3:Use the options available to insertmathematical equations. You can also use your keyboard to insertnumbersandalphabetsinto the equation.

Step 4:Alternatively, use thesearch barto search for themath symbolsthat you wish to add.

Step 5:If you’re still having trouble, use thedrawing windowto draw the character and select theclosest match.

Step 6:Once done, click thex iconto close the window.

This will insert the equation in Google Slides. Additionally, if you want to add simple fractions in Google Slides, use your keyboard. Here’s how.

Add Fractions to Your Equations

Step 1:Open the relevantpresentationinGoogle Slidesand type theupper numeratorof your fraction.

Step 2:Add the/ symbolusing your device’s keyboard. Next, add thelower denominator, followed by either thespaceor theenterkey.

This will add fractions to your equations by automatically converting the text to the standard format.

Method 2: Using Add-Ons to Add Mathematical Equations

Apart from using the special character option, you can also use the Hypatia Create add-ons to add a math equation in Google Slides. This will allow you to get access to extra features and functionality that might not be available in the native Google Slide menu. Here’s how to do it.

Step 1:Open thepresentationinGoogle Slidesand click onExtensions. Click onAdd-onsand selectGet add-ons.

Step 2:In the search bar, typeHypatia Createand click on theadd-onfrom the search results.

Step 3:Here, click onInstall.

Step 4:Click onContinue.

Then, follow the on-screen instructions and give all the necessary permissions to finish installing the Hypatia Create add-on. Once done, follow the below steps to use it.

Step 5:Click onExtensionsand click onHypatia Create. SelectInsert/Edit Math.

Step 6:Click on themenu optionsto insert mathematical equations.

Step 7:You can also use the dedicatedfraction iconto add simple fractions.

Step 8:Once done, click onInsert. This will insert the equations in Google Slides.

To make any changes or add more equations, open the Hypatia Create window again. Add or delete what you want and click on Insert to add the updated equation.
