3 Fixes for Alexa Not Responding to Voice Commands on Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K
Paurush dabbles around iOS and Mac while his close encounters are with Android and Windows. Before becoming a writer, he produced videos for brands like Mr. Phone and Digit. On weekends, he is a full-time cinephile trying to reduce his never-ending watchlist, often making it longer.
Basic Fixes
Fix 1: Check the Battery Health of the Remote
You can also check the battery health of yourFire TV remotewith an integrated feature in your Fire TV Stick 4K. Follow this solution by standing closer to your TV. Otherwise, you can use the Fire TV Remote app on your phone (mentioned later).
OpenSettings>Remote and Bluetooth Devices>Amazon Fire TV Remotes> KeepAmazon Fire TV Remote selected>check the battery levelon the right side.
If the battery level is Ok, you are good to go. If it says Low, change the AAA alkaline spare batteries of the remote. We also recommend checking the battery chamber to inspect any leaks.
Fix 2: Register Fire TV Stick 4K Again
You can also try to deregister and then register your Fire TV Stick 4K again with your Amazon account. This step will remove all your preferences and settings from the Fire TV Stick 4K and should solve the issue of Alexa not responding to voice commands.
OpenSettings>Account and Profile Settings> select yourAccount name>Deregister> selectDeregisteragain >sign into your Amazon account again.
Fix 3: Change Home Button Settings
If you see a red light instead of the blue one on your Fire TV remote, it may be because the Home button is functioning incorrectly. Here’s how to change the Home button settings.
OpenSettings>Equipment Control>Manage Equipment>Advanced Settings>Home Button >try changing toIR and HDMI-CEC.
If this solution doesn’t work, revert to HDMI-CEC Only using the above steps.
Alternative: Use Alexa on Fire TV Remote App
If none of the solutions work, download the Fire TV Remote app on yourAndroidoriPhone. The app will work like the physical remote and allow you to use Alexa. Here’s how to use the Fire TV Remote app.
Step 1:Open theFire TV Remote appon your Android or iPhone.
Step 2: Sign into your Amazon account. You must ensure that your phone and Fire TV Stick 4K are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Step 3:Tap on yourdevice nameat the bottom and enter the4-digit PINdisplayed on your TV in the Fire TV remote app.
You will now see a remote-like interface in the app. Tap on the Alexa button at the top to use the voice assistant.
