3 Fixes for Google Meet Not Working on iPhone
Paurush dabbles around iOS and Mac while his close encounters are with Android and Windows. Before becoming a writer, he produced videos for brands like Mr. Phone and Digit. On weekends, he is a full-time cinephile trying to reduce his never-ending watchlist, often making it longer.
Basic Fixes
Fix 1: Disable Limit Data Usage (Google Meet and Gmail)
If you rely mostly on Mobile Data for Google Meet video calls, you can turn on the option of Limit Data Usage in both Google Meet and Gmail.
Step 1:OpenGoogle Meet > Hamburger icon > Settings.
Step 2:Select theemail accountthat you use for Google Meet video calls.
Step 3:Tap the toggle next toLimit Data Usageto disable it.
Step 4:Close Meet and then open Gmail.
Step 5:Go toSettings > Choose Google account > Disable Limit Data Usage.
This helps when you host Meet calls from the Gmail app.
Fix 2: Reactivate Camera and Mic Access
If the Google Meet video is still not working on your iPhone, you should check the Camera and Microphone access for the app. It is possible that previously you might have turned off the access for either the Camera or Microphone before starting a video call. You can now go ahead and check if the access is enabled or not with the steps below.
OpenSettings > Meet > Disable Camera and Mic access > Wait for some time and then enable again.
Fix 3: Reset Network Settings
If nothing has worked for you, we suggest resetting your network settings on iPhone. This will restore all iPhone settings to default. Check out our post to learn more about what happens when youreset Network Settingson your iPhone.
Alternative: Use Google Meet From the Gmail App
If none of the steps have worked for you till now, we suggest using Google Meet video from the Gmail app. The Gmail app has the Meet tab enabled by default for every user. Here’s how you can start a Google Meet video call in the Gmail app.
OpenGmail > Tap the Meet tab > Enter your meeting code or start a new meeting.
Tip:While the Gmail app also allows you to start Google Meet video calls, sometimes the Gmail app itself may stop. If that has happened to you, check out our post that provides someworking solutionsto fix the same.
