Preliminary Fixes
Fix 1: Unmute the Video
While videos on Twitter play automatically in your feed, they are muted by default. Look for the speaker icon in the bottom right corner of the video. If you see a speaker icon with a cross sign next to it, tap it to unmute the video.
Fix 2: Force Close and Reopen the App
Closing and reopening the Twitter app will allow your phone to end all its processes and give it a fresh start. This should resolve any minor glitches that may have caused sound issues while playing videos or listening to Twitter Spaces. However, bookmark the Tweet before doing so, or it may take some time to find it.
On Android
Step 1:Long-press on theX app iconand tap theinfo iconfrom the resulting menu.
Step 2:Tap theForce stopicon at the bottom to close the app. And open the app again.
On iPhone
Step 1:Bring up the app switcher byswiping upwardsfrom the bottom of the screen (or double-tapping theHome screen button).
Step 2:Locate theX app cardand swipe upwards to close it. Now, reopen Twitter.
Fix 3: Clear App Cache
Twitter maintains a cache to improve user experience. However, the app may not work as expected if the cache becomes corrupt or outdated. Clearingthe Twitter app cacheshould restore the audio.
Step 1:Long-press theX app iconand tap theinfo iconfrom the resulting menu.
Step 2:Go toStorageand tap theClear cacheoption.
If you use an iPhone, you can reinstall the app to clear the cache.
If nothing else works, you candownload and play the Twitter videoon your device. Alternatively, if thevideo was sent on DM, follow this guide.
