3 Ways to Change Keyboard on Android

Method 1: Install a New Keyboard App

Here’s how you can install a third-party keyboard app, and make it default as soon as you open it. We’ve used SwiftKey as an example.

Step 1:Install and open theSwiftKey keyboard app.

Step 2:Tap EnableSwiftKey. Enable the keyboard(s) of your choice, and tapOKto confirm.

Step 3:Afterwards, go back and tapSelect SwiftKey.

Step 4:Choose the keyboard of your choice. Next, tapFinish upto complete the setup.

You can continue further by logging in with your Microsoft account to get additional features.

Method 2: Using the Choose Input Keyboard Method

Apart from that, most Android phones come with an easy method to switch between keyboards. Here’s how:

Step 1:While you are using the keyboard, tap theChoose input methodicon below the keyboard

Step 2:Choose thekeyboard. If asked to confirm, tapOK.

Apart from that, you can also switchkeyboardsusing theChoose input methodoption from the notification panel. All you have to do is tap on it and choose the keyboard of your choice. However, some devices/keyboard apps might not show this option.

Method 3: Change the Default Keyboard From Settings

If you have multiple keyboards already installed on your Android phone or if you have accidentally changed to another keyboard, you can change your keyboard back to normal.

Step 1:Go toSettings > System.

Note: For Xiaomi, select Additional Settings, and for Samsung, choose General Management.

Step 2:TapLanguages and input. Now, choose theOn-screen keyboardunder Keyboards.

On some devices, this option might be hidden under the Virtual keyboard.

Step 3:Now,choose the keyboardof your choice. TapOKto confirm changes.

Tip:Even if all the keyboards are enabled, toggle it off and back on.

Note:Since there are Android devices from multiple OEMs, the names of options and steps might differ here and there. Hence, if you are unable to find any option to change the keyboard, we suggest using the search option to searchchange keyboardin the Settings app. It will help you locate the option.
