3 Ways to Extract Images From a PowerPoint Presentation

Method 1: Use the “Save as Picture” Option

Using the “Save as Picture” option is the quickest way to extract an image from a PowerPoint file. This method is useful if you only want to save one or two images from your PowerPoint presentation.

Step 1:Open the PowerPoint presentation from which you want to save images.

Step 2:Locate and select the image you want to extract. Right-click on it and choose theSave as Pictureoption.

Step 3:In the Save As Picture dialog, specify where you want to save the image. Then, click the drop-down menu next toSave as typeto select your preferred file format for the image.

Step 4:Click the arrow next to theSavebutton and selectSave Original Pictureto export the high-resolution image.

You can repeat the above steps to extract more images if you like.

Alternatively, if you want to use the image in another program on your PC,right-clickon the image in your presentation and selectCopy. After that, move to the program where you want to use the file and press theCtrl + Vkeyboard shortcut to paste the image.

Method 2: Save the PowerPoint Slides as Images

While the “Save as Picture” option makes it easy to save images from your PowerPoint file, it’s not the most efficient method if you are looking to extract all the images from your PowerPoint presentation. In that case, it’s better to save your PowerPoint slides as images (inJPEG or PNG format) using the steps below.

Step 1:Open the PowerPoint file from which you want to save images.

Step 2:Click theFilemenu in the top-left corner.

Step 3:SelectSave Asfrom the left pane. Then, click theBrowsebutton.

Step 4:Click the drop-down menu next to Save as type to selectJPEG File Interchangeable FormatorPNG Portable Network Graphics Formatfrom the list.

Step 5:Click theSavebutton.

Step 6:SelectAll Slideswhen the prompt appears.

After you complete the above steps, all the images within your presentation will be saved separately in the specified location.

Method 3: Add a ZIP Extension to the Presentation File and Extract It

Another way to save all the images from a PowerPoint file simultaneously involves converting the presentation into a ZIP file and then extracting the file on your computer. This method allows you to save all of theimages in your presentationin their original format.

Step 1:Press theWindows key + Eto open File Explorer and locate the PowerPoint from which you want to save images.

Step 2:Right-clickon your file and select theRenameoption.

Step 3:Replace thePPTXorPPTMextension with theZIPextension. SelectYeswhen the confirmation prompt appears.

Step 4:Right-clickon the renamed file and selectExtract All.

Step 5:Use theBrowsebutton to select a location where you want to extract the file and clickExtract.

Step 6:Navigate to the folder where you extracted the ZIP file anddouble-clickthepptfolder.

Step 7:Double-click themediafolder to view all the images extracted from your presentation in their original format.

Once you have all the images, you can rename theZIPfile and add thePPTXorPPTMextension to recover your original presentation.
