3 Ways to Fix Discord Not Detecting Games on Windows

Try Basic Fixes

Fix 1: Enable Activity Status

Discord may fail to detect and display your games on your profile if you have accidentally disabled the Activity Status feature. Hence, it’s the first thing to check.

Step 1:Open theDiscord appon your PC and click thegear-shaped iconat the bottom left to open the User Settings menu.

Step 2:Use the left pane to navigate to theActivity Privacytab. Then, toggle onDisplay current activity as a status messagein the right pane.

Restart the Discord app to check if it can detect your games.

Fix 2: Run Discord as an Administrator

A lack of relevant permissions can cause Discord’s game detection feature to stop working on Windows. You can easily fix such permission-related issues by running Discord with administrative rights.

Right-click on theDiscord app iconand selectRun as administratorfrom the resulting menu.

If this method works, you can configure the app to always launch with admin rights. To do so, select theDiscord app shortcutand pressAlt + Enterkeyboard shortcut to open its properties. Switch to theCompatibilitytab and check the box forRun this program as an administrator. Then, hitApply, followed byOK.

Fix 3: Add the Game Manually to Discord

The Discord app also provides the option to add games manually. So, if Discord fails to detect your game automatically, use these steps to add it.

Step 1:Open theDiscord appon your PC and click thegear iconat the bottom left to open the User Settings menu.

Step 2:Select theRegistered Gamestab from the left sidebar. Then, click theAdd itoption in the right pane.

Step 3:Enter thenameof your game in the search box and click theAdd Gamebutton.

You can click theX iconat the top right of the game to remove it later.
