Why Is Chrome Searching With Bing?
As expected, Chrome uses Google as the default search engine on Windows and Mac. Chrome using Bing instead of Google can occur due to the reasons below.
Basic Fixes:
Fix 1: Manually Change Google Search Engine
When you share your main computer with someone, the person may change the default search engine on Chrome. You can change the default search engine on Google Chrome to Bing, Yahoo, or DuckDuckGo. It’s always advisable to check the Settings menu and revert the selection to Google. Here’s how to do it.
Step 1:OpenGoogle Chromeand click thethree-dot menu. Click onSettings.
Step 2:Go toSearch Engine. Click theManage search engines and site searchdrop-down and set it toGoogle.

Fix 2: Disable Chrome Extensions
Microsoft offers a Bing extension that might force change the default search engine on Google Chrome. No matter what trick you try, you will get search results from Bing. To get rid of such browser hijackers, you can disable all extensions and check again. Here’s how.
Step 1:OpenGoogle Chromeand click thethree-dot menu. Go toExtensionsand click onManage Extensions.
Step 2:Go to the relevant extension and turn thetoggleoff.
If certain extensions still misbehave, you canpermanently remove them from Chrome. Then, check the default search engine settings and try again.
Fix 3: Reset Google Chrome
As mentioned above, Google Chrome uses the Google search engine to deliver search results. If you have messed up the Chrome Settings earlier, then it’s time to reset Chrome settings to the default. Go through the steps below.
Step 1:OpenChrome→three-dot icon→Settings.
Step 2:Go toReset settingsand click onRestore settings to their original defaults.
Step 3:Click onReset settingsto confirm.
Then, restart Chrome. Once done, try searching for something using the Chrome search bar to check if the issue has been fixed.
