Basic Fixes

Fix 1: Clear Cache for Google Maps (Android)

Clearing the cache effectively fixes issues with most Android apps, and Google Maps is no exception. Use the following steps to clear the Google Maps cache on your phone to see if that helps.

Step 1:Long-press theGoogle Maps app iconand tap theinfo iconfrom the resulting menu.

Step 2:Go toStorageand tap onClear cache.

Fix 2: Reset Google Play Services (Android)

Problems with Google Play Services could cause your apps, like Google Maps, to misbehave on your Android. To fix this, reset Google Play Services using these steps:

Step 1:Open theSettingsapp, navigate toApps, and scroll down to tap onGoogle Play Services.

Step 2:Go toStorage>Manage storage. Then, tap theClear All Databutton.

Fix 3: Enable High Location Accuracy

As the name suggests, enabling high accuracy mode in the location settings will allow Google Maps to detect your location as accurately as possible. It’s best to enable this option if Google Maps is not showing the route on your Android or iPhone.

On Android

Step 1:Open theSettingsapp on your phone and go toLocation > Location services.

Step 2:Tap onGoogle Location Accuracyand toggle onImprove Location Accuracy.

On iPhone

Step 1:Open theSettingsapp and scroll down to tap onGoogle Maps.

Step 2:Tap onLocationand enable thePrecise Locationtoggle.

If nothing else works, tryreinstalling the Google Maps app on your phone. This should fix issues caused by corrupt app data and give Google Maps a fresh start.
