Why Is There a Delay When Locking or Waking up Your iPhone
If you have mapped a double/triple click shortcut to the power button of your iPhone, and when you click it once to lock it – it waits to confirm if two more clicks are on the way to trigger the shortcut, or if it is a single click to just lock the screen.
Hence, the time for which your iPhone waits to confirm the number of clicks is what causes the lock screen delay. Your iPhone can provide the following power button shortcuts:
As long as the buttons on your iPhone aren’t damaged or the case isn’t obstructing it, here’s how to fix the problem.
Fix 1: Disable Guided Access
Guided Access helps you restrict access to a single app and is useful if you’re a parent and want yourkid to stick to one app on your iPhone.
To enable Guided Access, you need to triple tap the power button and for reasons I mentioned earlier, it may cause the lock screen delay.
OpenSettings > General > Accessibility > Guided Accessand turn it off.
Fix 2: Disable Accessibility Shortcut
Some Accessibility features require triple-clicking the power button to activate them. If this shortcut is enabled, it can cause a delay while locking the screen on your iPhone.
Go toSettings > Accessibility > Accessibility Shortcutand de-select the features that can be enabled by triple-clicking the power button.
Fix 3: Disable Apple Wallet Shortcut
You can get passes and cards ready to use anytime if you double-tap the power button to activateApple Walleton your iPhone. However, it is also known to cause a delay when locking the screen.
Open the Settings app, tap onWallet & Apple Pay, and turn off theDouble-Click Side Button.
If nothing works, you can try toreset all settings on your iPhoneto fix the issue.
