Fix 1: Clean the Speaker Grille and Earpiece

Using the iPhone daily in different environments could make the speaker grille susceptible to dust particles and grime. That might make your speaker crackle, just like howAirPods can also cracklewith dust or seat accumulation. The best solution to this problem is to clean the speaker surface. You can do so with some rubbing alcohol paired with a microfiber cloth.

Fix 2: Ensure the Screen Protector or Case Do Not Cover the Speaker

In continuation of the previous point, the speaker or earpiece mustn’t be blocked—whether by dust or a screen protector. If you use a screen protector that covers the entire front of the phone, ensure the cutout for the earpiece is accurate. Similarly, ensure the case you’re using doesn’t cover the speaker grilles.

Fix 3: Eject Water That May Have Gone Into the Speaker

Have you been using your iPhone in the shower, or did you take pictures underwater when you went swimming the last time? If yes, water may have seeped into your iPhone’s speakers, thus causing the crackling sound. There’s a simple way toeject the water from your iPhonespeakers using an online service.

Visit theFixMySpeakerswebsite on your iPhone. Tap on the white button with the air and water droplets icons at the center of the screen. Then, wait for the service to do its magic.
