How to Check if Scroll Lock Is Enabled on Excel
If you’re unsure whether scroll lock is enabled on Excel, glance at the status bar in the bottom corner of the spreadsheet. You’ll see an indication that says ‘Scroll Lock’.
If you don’t see it, right-click on the status bar. Check if it says ‘on’ next to Scroll Lock in the list of options.

Method 1: Disable the Scroll Lock Using the Keyboard Shortcut
If you observe closely, you will notice that your Windows keyboard has aScroll Lock key. When you use this key, it disables the scroll lock in the open application. Therefore, you can use this key to disable the scroll lock on Microsoft Excel.
On Mac:You can use the key combinationfn + Shift + F12to turn the scroll lock functionality on or off.
Method 2: Disable Scroll Lock Using On-Screen Keyboard (Windows)
If you don’t find the Scroll Lock key on your keyboard, don’t worry. There is an alternative method to do the same.
Windows has anon-screen keyboardoption that provides a virtual set of keys you can use on your display. This keyboard has a scroll lock key, and you can use it to turn off the scroll lock while Excel is open.
Open theOn-Screen Keyboard appfrom the start menu. You can search for the same using the search bar.
Once you open it, you can use theScrlLk keyto turn it off on Excel.

Alternatively, you can run amacroto turn off the scroll lock. Here’s how you can do it.
Step 1:UseAlt + F11in Windows, orOption + F11in Mac to open the VBA editor on Microsoft Excel.
Step 2:In the VBA editor, click on the Insert tab and choose Module to insert a new module.
Step 4: Copy and pastethe following code into the module:
