4 Fixes for Bad Module Info Has Stopped Working Error on Windows

Fix 1: Turn off Fullscreen Optimizations

Full-screen optimizations in Windows can enhance the performance of your games and programs while they’re in full-screen mode. However, if these optimizations don’t function properly, your game or program may crash, resulting in the “bad module info has stopped working” error on your Windows 10 or 11 PC.

To avoid this, try disabling fullscreen optimizations for your game using these steps:

Step 1:Locate your game or program’s EXE file, right-click on it, and selectProperties.

Step 2:Switch to theCompatibilitytab and check the box forDisable fullscreen optimizations. Then, hitApply, followed byOK.

Fix 2: Run the Program in Compatibility Mode

Compatibility issues with your program or game can also cause it to crash and trigger such errors. To avoid this, Windows 10 and 11 allow you torun programs in compatibility mode. Here’s how to use it.

Step 1:On your PC, locate the program you wish to run in compatibility mode. Right-click on it and selectProperties.

Step 2:Switch to theCompatibilitytab and check the box forRun this program in compatibility mode for.

Step 3:Use the drop-down menu to select an older version of Windows from the list and hitApply, followed byOK.

Fix 3: Update Graphics Drivers

Outdated graphics drivers on your PC can also cause games and programs not to render properly on Windows and crash. Simply updating the graphics drivers should help fix the problem. Here’s how to go about it.

Step 1:Right-click on theStart iconand selectDevice Manager.

Step 2:ExpandDisplay adapters, right-click on your graphics driver, and selectUpdate driver.

From there, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the update process and check if the error reappears.

Fix 4: Reinstall the Problematic Game or Program

If the error message “bad module info has stopped working” only appears when you run a specific program or game on Windows, some of the core files related to it have likely become corrupted. Your best option is touninstall the problematic programand reinstall it from scratch.

Step 1:Press theWindows key + Rto open the Run dialog box. Typeappwiz.cplin the box and pressEnter.

Step 2:Select the program or game from the list and click onUninstallat the top.

Follow the on-screen prompts to finish removing the program and thdn reinstall it. After that, the error should not appear.
