4 Fixes for Gmail No Connection Error on Android and iPhone

Fix 1: Enable Mobile Data for Gmail (iPhone)
Your iPhone lets you manage mobile data permissions for each app individually. If you’ve previously turned off mobile data access for Gmail, it will display the “No connection” error when your iPhone is not connected to a Wi-Fi network.
Open theSettingsapp > scroll down and tap onGmail> enable the toggle forMobile Data> reopen theGmail app. Now, it should not show any errors.
Fix 2: Turn Off Data Saver Mode
Have you enabled data saver mode on your phone? This mode can sometimes affect an app’s ability to connect to the internet. To avoid this, turn off your phone’s data saver mode when not needed.
On Android
Step 1:Open theSettingsapp > tap onConnections.
Step 2:TapData saver> turn off the toggle forTurn on now.
On iPhone
Step 1:Open theSettingsapp on your iPhone > tap onWi-Fi.
Step 2:Tap theinfo iconnext to your Wi-Fi network > turn off the toggle forLow Data Modein the following menu.
Step 3:If you’re using Gmail on mobile data, return to the Settings page and tapMobile Data.
Step 4:TapMobile Data Options> turn off the toggle forLow Data Mode.
Fix 3: Sign Out and Sign Back In
Another reason Gmail may have trouble communicating with its servers and show the “No connection” error is if there’s an issue with your account. To fix this, trysigning out of the Gmail appand signing back in using these steps:
On Android
Step 1:Open theGmailapp > tap yourprofile pictureat the top right corner > selectManage accounts on this device.
Step 2:Select yourGoogle accountfrom the list > tap onRemove account> selectRemove accountagain to confirm.
On iPhone
Step 1:Open theGmailapp > tap on yourprofile iconat the top right corner > selectManage accounts on this device.
Step 2:SelectRemove from this devicefor your account > selectRemoveto confirm.
Add your account to the Gmail app again and see if the error persists.
Fix 4: Clear App Cache (Android)
Clearing the cache effectively fixes issues caused by corrupt or outdated temporary app files. So, if Gmail still shows the “No connection” error, try clearing its cache data using these steps:
Step 1:Long press theGmail appand tap theinfo iconfrom the resulting menu.
Step 2:Go toStorageand tapClear cacheat the bottom.
If nothing else works, there may be a problem with some of the core app files or you might be using a buggy version. In such cases, uninstalling andreinstalling the Gmail appshould help fix the error.
