4 Ways to Fix Android Not Receiving Texts From iPhone

Why Is My Android Phone Not Receiving Texts From an iPhone?

Android devices and iPhones use different protocols for sending messages. While the iPhone uses iMessage, the Android uses RCS. Both of these platforms aren’t compatible with each other. So, if you switched from an iPhone to an Android and are not receiving texts, it could be that the texts are not being sent as SMS messages.

Another reason for the error could be poor network connectivity or an issue with the messaging app on your Android device. No matter the issue, this guide will help you fix it.

Basic Troubleshooting

Fix 1. Reset Network Settings

If the basics haven’t worked in your favor, reset the network settings on your Android phone. This will ensure that any network setting that prevents incoming texts will be overridden. Here’s how to do the same:

Step 1:Open theSettingsapp. (We’re using a Samsung Galaxy phone for illustration.)

Step 2:Tap theSearch icon. Next, typeResetto find the relevant results.

Step 3:SelectReset network settings.

Step 4:Tap theReset network settingsoption once again. Then, chooseReset settings.

Once done, restart your device for extra measure. Now, test if you’re receiving SMS or not.

Fix 2. Disable iMessage From Your Phone Number (iPhone)

If you have an iPhone with iMessage registered on the same phone number as your Android phone, you may face issues receiving texts on the latter. Hence, disabling iMessage for this phone number via your iPhone is wise. Here’s how to do it.

Step 1:Open theSettingsapp on the iPhone. Scroll to theMessagesoption.

Step 2:Tap onSend & Receive.

Step 3:Choose thephone numberyou’re using on your Android phone. When a prompt appears, selectRemove.

Fix 3. Deregister Your Phone Number From iMessage

The above method applies if you use an iPhone and an Android device simultaneously. However, if you switched to Android from an iPhone and forgot to disable iMessage on your number, there is an alternative method to fix it.

Step 1:VisitApple’s official portalfor deregistering your phone number from iMessage.

Step 2:Scroll down to theNo longer have your iPhone?section > enter yourphone numberwith your country code.

Step 3:Now, click onSend Code.

Step 4:Wait for the code to arrive on your phone number. Enter it and click onSubmit.

After that, Apple will deregister your phone number from iMessage.

Fix 4. Disable RCS on Android

Google recently introduced its messaging standard, RCS, to rival iMessage. Sometimes, messages sent from an iPhone do not show up on your Android device because they were sent from a device that doesn’t support RCS.

So,disable RCS on Androidand check if you can receive texts from an iPhone. Here’s how to do it.

Step 1:Open theMessages app> tap on thethree-dot menuto bring up Preferences.

Step 2:SelectSettings.

Step 3:ChooseChat Features> turn off the toggle forEnable chat features.
