Basic Fixes:

Fix 1: Enable Location Accuracy

Having access to precise location data can help the app figure out exactly where you are. This can then be used to measure the distance and other parameters when setting a route for any destination. So, if the location permissions are not granted, it can cause issues in the Google Maps app. Here’s how to fix it.

Step 1:OpenSettingsand tap onLocation. Turn theLocationtoggle on and tap onApp permissions.

Step 2:Tap onMapsand selectAllow all the time. Turn on theUse precise locationtoggle.

This will ensure the Google Maps app has access to precise location data and also improve its location accuracy.

Fix 2: Allow the App to Run in the Background

To prevent Google Maps from being a battery hogger, most devices usually have it set to restricted or battery-saving modes automatically. However, restricting access to running in the background can cause problems when using the app. So, here’s how you can unrestrict the Google Maps Android app.

Step 1:OpenSettingsand tap onApps. Tap onMaps.

Step 2:Tap onBatteryand selectUnrestricted.

This will allow Google Maps to allow rampant in the background. Check out our other article if you end up facingissues with Google Maps draining your Android’s battery life.

Fix 3: Clear Cache and Data

Clearing the cache for any app can help you get rid of temporary files that are usually used to decrease app loading time. Deleting app data can help you get rid of all the files, account settings, etc. This way, any corrupt app data will be deleted as well. Here’s how to do it.

Step 1:OpenSettingsand tap onApps. Tap onMaps.

Step 2:Tap onStorage. Then, tap onClear cache.

Step 3:Tap onClear dataand tap onDelete. Re-open the Google Maps app and check.

Fix 4: Disable Wi-Fi Only in Google Maps

If you’ve set Google Maps to work only on Wi-Fi, it will stop working the moment you disconnect from your Wi-Fi and use mobile data. To ensure this does not happen, disable the relevant setting in the Google Maps app using the below steps.

Step 1:Open theGoogle Maps appand tap yourprofile picture. Tap onSettings. Turn off theWi-Fi onlytoggle.

Once done, restart the Google Maps app and try using it again on your Android device to check if the issue has been resolved.
