4 Ways to Fix Storage Space Running Out Alert on Android

Basic Fixes:

Fix 1: Reset App Cache

Most apps collect cache to ensure smooth functioning. However, this cache also occupies the storage space on your Android phone. So, if your phone doesn’t have sufficient space, clear the app cache to free it up without affecting the app data. Here’s how.

Step 1:OpenSettings> tap onApps> tap on the relevantapp.

Step 2:Here, tap onStorage>Clear cache. Repeat these steps for other apps.

Fix 2: Delete Unwanted Data

You can also delete the data for certain unimportant apps on your Android phone to free up storage. Note that doing this might sign you out of the app. Here’s how.

Step 1:Go toSettings→Apps→relevant app→Storage.

Step 2:Tap onClear data. When prompted, tap onDeleteto confirm. Repeat this process for other apps.

Besides this, certain apps like WhatsApp have dedicated options to clear app data. You can also use that. Additionally, you can also delete unimportant files from the Files app.

Fix 3: Uninstall Unwanted Apps

Your downloaded apps also occupy a good chunk of storage space. To free up space quickly, uninstall any unwanted apps from your Android phone. Here’s how.

Step 1:Long-press the relevantappand tap onUninstall.

Step 2:TapOKto confirm. Repeat this process to uninstall other unwanted apps

Fix 4: Free up Space Using Google Photos

Photos and videos can also occupy unwanted space on your Android phone. So, if you have Google Photos backup enabled, delete these items from your device’s storage space. This way, your photos and videos will remain in the cloud while freeing up storage space. Here’s how.

Step 1:OpenGoogle Photosand tap on yourprofile icon.

Step 2:Tap onFree up space. Then, tap onFree upto confirm.

Wait for the relevant photos or videos to be deleted. Then, re-check how much storage space is available on your Android device.
