4 Ways to Fix Windows 11 Stuck on Shutting Down Screen

Try These Things First

Fix 1: Disable Fast Startup

One of the main reasons your Windows 11 computer could get stuck on the shutdown screen is thefast startupoption. You must disable it to fix the problem. Here’s how:

Step 1:Open theStart menu, typeControl Panelin the search bar and hitEnter. Then, in the Control Panel, navigate toSystem and security>Power Options>Choose what the power buttons do.

Step 2:ChooseChange settings that are currently unavailable.

Step 4:UncheckTurn off fast startup (recommended)> clickSave changes.

Fix 2: Reset the BIOS to Default Settings

The problem can also originate from your motherboard. So, reset the BIOS to its default settings to fix the issue. Here’s how:

Step 1:First,boot into UEFI BIOS on your Windows computer.

Windows 11 might get stuck on the shutdown screen if you have hibernation mode enabled on your computer. To solve this,disable hibernation mode. Follow the steps below to do that:

Step 1:Open theStart menu> typeCommand Promptin the search bar > chooseRun as administrator.

Step 2:Type the following command in Command Prompt and pressEnter.

After that, check if you still face the issue. If yes, it probably has something to do with the Intel(R) Management Engine Interface.

Fix 4: Disable and Re-enable Intel (R) Management Engine Interface

Many users on Reddit mentionedthat disabling and re-enabling the Intel(R) Management Engine Interface solved the problem for them. So, try this and check if it fixes the problem. Here’s how:

Step 1:Open thePower User menu> chooseDevice Manager.

Step 2:In the Device Manager, double-clickSystem devices> right-clickIntel(R) Management Engine Interface> chooseDisable device> clickYesto confirm your decision.

Step 3:After that,force shut downyour computer (as the normal shutdown window is stuck) > right-clickIntel(R) Management Engine Interfaceagain > chooseEnable device.
