4 Ways to Resize Images in Windows 11

Method 1: Resize Images Using the Photos App

You may use the Photos app to view, organize, and edit your photos. But did you know you can also use it to resize images in Windows 11? Here is how.

Step 1:Press theWindows key + Eto open File Explorer and locate the image you want to resize. Right-click on it and selectOpen with > Photos.

Step 2:Clickthree horizontal dotsat the top and selectResize imagefrom the menu.

Step 3:You can resize the image to a percentage of its original size or set specific pixel values. Enter your preferred dimensions in theWidthandHeightfields and clickSave.

Step 4:In the Save As dialog, name your image and hitSave.

Method 2: Resize Images Using Microsoft Paint

Microsoft Paint has been a part of the Windows operating system since its inception. It packs severalimage editing options, including the ability to resize images. Here’s how to use it.

Step 1:On your computer, locate the image you want to resize. Right-click on it and chooseOpen with>Microsoft Paint.

Step 2:When the photo opens in the Paint app, selectResizefrom the toolbar at the top.

Step 3:Enter your preferred dimensions in theHorizontalandVerticalfields and clickOK.

Step 4:Click thesave iconat the top to overwrite the existing file.

If you want to save the resized image as a separate file, pressF12on your keyboard to give it a new file name.

Method 3: Resize Images With the Paint 3D App

Paint 3D is another Microsoft app that lets you create and edit images and drawings. In addition tocreating logosand 3D artwork, the app is also useful for resizing images on Windows.

Step 1:Click thesearch iconon the taskbar, typePaint 3Din the text box, and select the first result.

Step 2:ClickOpen. If you don’t see the welcome screen, pressCtrl + Okeys on your keyboard.

Step 3:Click onBrowse filesand select theimageyou want to resize.

Step 4:SelectCanvasfrom the header menu.

Step 5:In the Canvas panel on the right, use thedrop-down menuto specify whether you want to resize the image in pixels or percentages.

Step 6:Enter your preferred dimensions for the image.

Step 7:Press theCtrl + Skeys to overwrite the existing file, or theCtrl + Shift + Skeys to save the image as a separate file.

Method 4: Resize Images Using Microsoft PowerToys

Another option for resizing images on Windows is to use the PowerToys app. With it, you can resize orrename images in bulkon your Windows 11 PC.

Although Microsoft develops PowerToys, it is not pre-installed on Windows. To use it,download it from the Microsoft Store.

Once you’ve installed PowerToys on your computer, use the following steps to resize images with it.

Step 1:Press theWindows + Skeys to open the search menu. TypePowerToysin the search box and pressEnter.

Step 2:Navigate to theImage Resizertab and turn on the toggle forEnable Image Resizer.

Step 3:Press theWindows + Ekeys to open File Explorer and locate the images you want to resize.

Step 4:Right-click on your selection and selectResize picturesfrom the context menu.

Step 5:Use the drop-down menu underSelect a sizeto chooseCustom.

Step 6:Enter yourpreferred dimensionsand pick additional options using the checkboxes.

Step 7:Click onResize.
