5 Fixes for No Sound in WhatsApp Video Calls on iPhone and Android

Paurush dabbles around iOS and Mac while his close encounters are with Android and Windows. Before becoming a writer, he produced videos for brands like Mr. Phone and Digit. On weekends, he is a full-time cinephile trying to reduce his never-ending watchlist, often making it longer.

Basic Fixes

Fix 1: Check Microphone Permissions

The biggest reason you can’t hear the other person during a WhatsApp video call is that the app doesn’t use the microphone. So, it would help if you started checking and allowing the microphone on your iPhone or Android phone.

On iPhone

Step 1:Open theSettingsapp and tap onWhatsApp.

Step 2:Tap the toggle next toMicrophoneto enable its access.

Now, you must check if Microphone access has been enabled in the Screen Time settings.

Step 3:Go back and tap onScreen Time.

Step 4:Tap onContent and Privacy Restrictions> selectMicrophone.

Step 5: Ensure thatWhatsApphas been allowed Microphone access.

On Android

Step 1:Long-press theWhatsApp app icon> selectApp Info.

Step 2:Tap onPermissions>Microphone.

Step 3:Ensure thatMicrophoneaccess is enabled.

Step 1:OpenSettingson Android and tap on Apps.

Step 2:SelectAll Appsand tap thethree vertical dotsat the top-right corner.
