5 Fixes for Phone Link App Not Showing Notifications on Windows 11

Basic Fixes:

Before fixing the issue of the Phone Link app notifications not working, it is always worth checking if all the necessary settings have been enabled on your Windows device. This way, you can ensure that Phone Link notifications have not been blocked by Windows settings instead. Follow the below steps to do it.

Step 1:Use the Windows + I key to openSettings. Go toSystemand click onNotifications.

Step 2:Here, turn on theNotificationstoggle.

Step 3:Scroll down and click onPhone Link.

Step 4:Ensure theNotificationtoggle is turned on.

Step 5:Check the box forShow notification bannersandShow notifications in notificationcenter.

Step 6:Enable the belowtoggleto turn on sound for notifications and set notification priority.

This will ensure Phone Link notifications are not throttled by your device’s settings and are delivered on priority. Additionally, ensureBattery Saver is disabled on your Windows device.

Fix 2: Turn on In-App Notification Settings

Just like checking your system’s settings, you can also go through the Phone Link app’s settings menu and check that all the necessary settings have been enabled. Here’s how.

Step 1:Open thePhone Link appand click thecogwheel icon.

Step 2:Click onFeatures. Go to Notifications and ensure all the necessarytogglesare on.

Step 3:Scroll down and click onChoose which apps I get notifications from.

Step 4:Go to the target app and click on thedrop-down. SelectNotification feed + banner.

You can also repeat the above steps for any other app that you wish to specifically enable notifications for.

Fix 3: Allow Background App Permissions on PC

If your Windows device has blocked the Phone Link app from running in the background, it might face issues when syncing the notification. To fix this, allow the Phone Link app to run in the background on Windows 11. Here’s how.

Step 1:OpenSettingsand click onApps. Click onInstalled apps.

Step 2:Go to the Phone Link app and click thethree-dot icon. Click onAdvanced options.

Step 3:Go to Background apps permissions and click thedrop-down. SelectAlways.

If the Phone Link app is unable to update in the background, it can cause issues like notifications not working. To ensure this does not happen, unrestrict the Phone Link app on your Android device and turn on the Background App Refresh on your iPhone. Here’s how.

Step 1:OpenSettingsand tap onApps. Tap onLink to Windows.

Step 2:Tap onBatteryand selectUnrestricted.

Allow Background App Refresh (iOS)

Step 1:OpenSettingsand tap onGeneral. Tap onBackground App Refresh.

Step 2:Tap onBackground App Refreshand selectWi-Fi & Mobile Data.

If you’re still experiencing issues with notifications not working on the Phone Link Windows app, try unlinking and then relinking your Windows device with your Android or iOS device. This will resolve any connection issues that might be preventing notifications from working properly. Here’s how to do it.

On Android

Step 1:Open thePhone Link appand click thecogwheel icon.

Step 2:Click onMy Devices. Go to your phone and click thethree-dot icon. Click onRemove.

Step 3:Check the undertaking and click onYes, remove.

This will remove the device from your Windows Phone Link app. Now, to completely remove the device, open the Phone Link mobile app and follow the below steps.

Step 4:Open theLink to Windows appand tap thecogwheel icon.

Step 5:Tap onSign out of Link to Windows. Then, tap onUnlink.

This will unlink your Phone Link app. Now, follow the below steps to relink the app with your Android device.

Step 6:Open thePhone Link Windows appand click onAndroid.

Step 7:Check theI have the Link to Windows app readybox and click onPair with QR code.

Step 8:Open theLink to Windows appon your Android device and tap onLink your phone and PC.

Step 9:Tap onContinueand scan theQR code. Tap onContinue.

Grant all the necessary permissions to get the Phone Link Android app up and running. Then, check if the notifications are working as expected.

On iPhone

Step 1:Open thePhone Link appand click thecogwheel icon.

Step 2:Click onMy Devices.

Step 3:Go to youriOS deviceand click thethree-dot icon. Click onRemove.

Step 4:Check theoptionand click onYes, remove.

This will remove the device from the Windows app. Now, to complete this process, go to your iPhone’s Bluetooth menu and remove your Windows device. Here’s how.

Step 5:On iPhone, openSettingsand tap onBluetooth. Tap on yourWindows device.

Step 6:Tap onForget This Device. Tap onForget Deviceto confirm.

Now, open the Phone Link app again and relink both devices. Here’s how.

Step 7:Open thePhone Link Windows appand click oniPhone.

Step 8:Open theLink to Windows appon your iPhone and tap onScan QR code.

Step 9:Scan theQR codevisible on your Windows device and tap onPairto confirm.

Check all app permissions. Then, wait a while and check again to see if notifications are working properly on your Windows 11 device.
