6 Fixes for Facebook Stories Not Showing on Mobile and PC

Try These Basic Fixes
Fix 1: Check Muted Stories
If Facebook isn’t displaying stories from specific friends, you may have accidentally muted their stories. So, use the following steps to unmute them.
Step 1:Open the Facebook app and tap thethree horizontal linesat the top-right corner.
Step 2:Tap onSettings & Privacy> selectSettings.
Step 3:Scroll down to theAudience and visibilitysection and selectStories. Then, tap onStories you muted.
Step 4:You’ll see a list of friends you’ve muted. Tap theUnmutebutton next to your friend’s name to view their stories.
Fix 2: Manage Who Can View Your Story
If your friends cannot view the stories you post on Facebook, it’s a good idea to check the privacy settings in the app and ensure you haven’thidden stories from any of them.
Step 1:Open the Facebook app > tap themenu icon> go toSettings & Privacy>Settings.
Step 2:UnderAudience and visibility, tap onStories.
Step 3:TapStory privacy> choosePublicorFriends.
Fix 3: Disable Data Saver in Facebook
The data saver option in the Facebook app can come in handy on a limited data plan. However, this feature can occasionally prevent Facebook from loading content, leading to issues. For an optimal experience, consider disabling data saver in the Facebook app.
Step 1:Open the Facebook app, tap themenu icon, and go toSettings & Privacy>Settings.
Step 2:Scroll down to tap onMedia> selectOptimized.
Fix 4: Clear App Cache (Android)
Temporary data stored by the Facebook app can affect its performance once it becomes outdated or corrupted. Hence, it’s a good idea toclear the Facebook app cacheon your phone.
Step 1:Long-press on theFacebook app icon> tap theinfo icon.
Step 2:Go toStorage> tapClear cacheat the bottom.
Fix 5: Clear Browsing Data (Computer)
Similarly, if you use Facebook on a web browser, clearing the existing browser cache and cookies should help.
To clear the browser cache in Chrome or Edge, pressCtrl + Shift + Deleteon your keyboard. SelectAll timein the Time Range section and mark the boxes forCookies and other site dataandCached images and files. Lastly, click theClear nowbutton.
Fix 6: Disable Extensions (Computer)
Are you using any third-party extensions to block ads, apply themes, or enhance your Facebook experience in any other way? If so, one of those extensions may interfere with Facebook’s functionality and prevent it from showing stories.
To check this, disable all the extensions in the browser and try to load Facebook again. Typechrome://extensions(Chrome) oredge://extensions(Edge) in the address bar and hitEnter. Then, turn off all the extensions.
Once disabled, try loading stories on Facebook. If this helps, enable all the extensions one by one to identify the one causing the issue.
