6 Fixes for Samsung Galaxy Phones Not Receiving Text Messages

Basic Fixes

Fix 1: Check Blocked Contacts

In case you aren’t receiving messages on your Samsung phone from just one or two contacts, you should check the blocked list. You might have accidentally blocked them.

Open theMessagesapp >three dots>Settings>Block numbers and spam>Blocked messages> tap theMinusicon to remove the contact from the list.

Fix 2: Check the Default Messaging App

You need to ensure that the Samsung Messages app has beenset to defaulton your device.

OpenSettings>Apps>Default apps>SMS app>Default SMS app.

Fix 3: Reset App Preferences

You can perform this function to reset all preferences and settings for the Samsung Messages app. You can set it to default once again after completing this process.

OpenSettings>Apps>three dotsin the top-right corner >Reset app preferences.

Fix 4: Reset Network Settings

Fix 5: Use Safe Mode

If nothing has worked so far, we suggest booting your Samsung phone in Safe Mode. Basically, this will prevent any third-party app from interfering with the system app functioning.

Long-press thePower button> long-press thePower Officon > tap onSafe Mode.

Fix 6: Use Google Messages App

As an alternative, you can switch to theGoogle Messages appas your default. Switching to a new app won’t remove any of your conversations.

Launch the app > tap onSet Default SMS App> chooseGoogle Messages>Set as Default.
