6 Ways to Fix Facebook Notifications Not Working on Android

Basic Fixes

Fix 1: Check Notifications Settings on Facebook

If the basic fixes don’t work, check the notification settings within the Facebook app. Here’s how:

Step 1:Open theFacebook app> tap thethree linesat the top right.

Step 2:Tap onSettings & privacy>Settings.

Step 3:Under Preferences, tap onNotifications.

Step 4:Scroll down to Where You Receive Notifications and tapPush.

Step 5:EnsureMute Push Notificationsis off and the others are on.

Fix 2: Check Notifications Settings on Your Phone

Step 1:Go toSettingson your Android device.

Step 2:Tap onApps>See all apps>Facebook.

Step 3:TapNotificationsand toggle your preferred options on.

Fix 3: Clear Cache and Data

If the notification settings are correct but the issue persists,clear the cache data.

Step 1:Open PhoneSettings>Apps>See all apps>Facebook.

Step 2: Tap onStorage & cache>Clear cache.

Note:Clearing the data will log you out of the Facebook app, so ensure you know your login details.

Fix 4: Enable Background Data Usage

Check if background data usage is enabled for the Facebook app. If not, this may be why you aren’t receiving notifications. Here’s how to enable it:

Step 1:Go toSettings>Apps>See all apps>Facebook.

Step 2: Tap onMobile Data & Wi-Fi> enableBackground Data.

Fix 5: Allow Unrestricted Battery Usage

Some phones limit background activities to reduce battery usage. Ensure this restriction isn’t applied to your Facebook app. Here’s how:

Step 1:OpenSettings> go toApps>See all apps>Facebook.

Step 2:Tap onApp battery usage> selectUnrestricted.

Fix 6: Reset App Preferences

If none of the above solutions work,reset your app preferences. This will reset all app settings on your device. Here’s how:

Step 1:Go toSettings>Apps>See all apps.

Step 2:Tap thethree dotsat the top right > selectReset app preferences.

Step 3:A pop-up will appear asking for confirmation. SelectReset apps.

Note:Resetting app preferences reset preferences for all apps. So, you may have to reconfigure settings for other apps as well.
