7 Ways to Fix Netflix Black Screen With Sound Issues on Mobile and Desktop

Fix 1: Disable Extensions (Windows and macOS)

While third-party extensions can help you watch Netflix with friends or enhance your experience in many ways, they can also interfere with Netflix’s video playback. To verify this, disable all the extensions in your web browser and stream Netflix again.

Type inchrome://extensions(Chrome) oredge://extensions(Edge) in the address bar and hitEnter. Then, turn off all the extensions.

If this solves your problem, enable all the extensions one by one to determine the one causing the issue.

Fix 2: Clear Browsing Data (Windows and macOS)

Old cookies and cached data can sometimes interfere with your browser and prevent it from streaming videos. To fix this, try clearing your existing browsing data to see if that improves the situation. To clear browser cache in Chrome or Edge:

Step 1:PressCtrl + Shift + Delete(Windows) orCommand + Shift + Delete(macOS) on your keyboard to launch the Clear Browsing Data panel.

Step 2:SelectAll timein the Time Range section and tick the boxes forCookies and other site dataandCached images and files. Then, hitClear data.

Fix 3: Update Graphics Driver (Windows)

If the graphics driver on your Windows PC hasn’t been updated in a while, you’re likely to facetrouble while playing videos. To resolve this, try updating the graphics drivers on Windows by following the steps below.

Step 1:Click thesearch iconon the taskbar, typedevice manager, and pressEnter.

Step 2:ExpandDisplay adaptersby clicking the arrow. Right-click on your graphics driver and selectUpdate driver.

Fix 4: Turn Off Color Correction (Android)

Color correction is anaccessibility feature on select Android phonesthat can result in video playback issues. To avoid this, Netflix recommends disabling the color correction feature on your phone.

Step 1:Launch theSettingsapp on your Android and navigate toAccessibility.

Step 2:Scroll down to the Display section and tapColor correction. Then, turn offUse color correction.

Fix 5: Clear App Cache (Android)

Another reason the Netflix app may not function correctly is if the temporary data collected by the app is old. To resolve this, clear the Netflix app cache by following the steps below.

Step 1:Long-press on theNetflix app iconand selectApp infofrom the menu that pops up.

Step 2:VisitStorage & cacheand tapClear cache.

Fix 6: Check for Content and Privacy Restrictions (iPhone, iPad, and Mac)

Content restrictions on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac can block certain websites or apps from streaming content or specific types of content. To avoid this, turn off any content restrictions under Screen Time.

Step 1:Launch theSettingsapp and navigate toScreen Time.

Step 2:Go toContent & Privacy Restrictionsand turn it off.

Fix 7: Reset Netflix App (iPhone and iPad)

If you still experience the black screen issue, resetting the Netflix app on your iPhone and iPad may be necessary. Launch theSettingsapp on your iPhone, scroll down to selectNetflix, and under Netflix Settings, toggleReset.

Restart the Netflix app, sign in with your credentials, and you should be able to stream on Netflix again.
