Facebook Story Archive: How to Enable, View, Delete and Reuse

How to View Archived Story on FaceBook

Once a Story has been active for more than 24 hours, it disappears but may be found in the Story Archive. The steps to view the archive are similar on the iOS and Android mobile app, but there is a slight difference on your desktop. Below, we show you how to view these stories.

Mobile

Step 1:Launch the Facebook application.

Step 2:Tap your profile picture at the top left, then tap the three-dot button besideEdit profile.

Step 3:TapArchiveand tap theStory Archivebutton.

Now, you should have all your archived stories displayed on the interface.

Web

Step 1:Tap your profile picture on the top right side.

Step 2:Click the three-dot button for more options and selectStory Archivefrom the context menu.

How to Reuse a Facebook Story Archive

Even after a story has been archived, it can be reused later. To do this, you must open the Story archive on the mobile app (reusing or resharing does not work on the web app), as we have shown above, and then follow the steps below.

Step 1:Tap the needed archived Story.

Step 2:Tap theSharearrow, then theSharebutton.

How to Unarchive a Story on Facebook

Unarchiving or deleting an archived story will remove it from your archive. The steps are similar on all devices, but you will have to first open the story archive, as we have shown in an earlier section, and then continue with the steps below.

Step 1:Tap or click on the story you want to unarchive.

Step 2:Tap or click on the three dots at the top right of the story and selectDelete this story(mobile app),Delete Photo, orDelete Video(Web app).

These steps are similar tounarchiving an Instagram Story.

How To Enable or Disable Story Archiving on FaceBook

By default, Stories will move to archive after 24 hours. However, there is an option to disable or enable this feature. When disabled, your Story will not be stored in the archive after 24 hours. To access the enable or disable options follow the steps below.

Mobile

Step 1:Launch the Facebook application.

Step 2:Tap your profile picture at the top left, then tap the three-dot button besideEdit profile.

Step 3:TapArchiveand tap theStory Archivebutton.

Step 4:Tap on the gearSettingsicon, then toggle offSave to archiveto disable the feature. You should toggle it on to enable the feature.

Web

Step 1:Tap your profile picture on the top right side.

Step 2:Click the three-dot button for more options and selectStory Archivefrom the context menu.

Step 3:Click the Settings button at the top right, then clickTurn OffStory Archiveto disable it orTurn OnStory Archiveto enable it.
