How to Add and Delete a Hyperlink in an Outlook Email

As one of the popular email solutions for organizations, different types of information get passed across on Microsoft Outlook.Microsoft Outlookalso replicates some of the features of other Microsoft Office software, such as the insert link feature.

With Outlook, users can insert hyperlinks into messages. Such hyperlinks allow email recipients to visit web pages with a single click. Here’s how it works.

You can insert a hyperlink into an Outlook email via a computer or a mobile device. We will explain what to do in both cases using the steps below:

On Desktop

Step 1:Launch theMicrosoft Outlookapp on your computer.

Step 2:From the Ribbon, selectNew Emailor select the mail from your Inbox > click onReply.

Step 3:Composean email andselectthe text to add your hyperlink by highlighting it.

Step 4:Right-clickon the text you selected > scroll through themenu options> selectLink. Alternatively, click onLink.

Step 5:SelectInsert Link.

Step 6:On the Insert Hyperlink dialog box, insert theURL Addressinto the Address field and click onOK.

On Mobile

Step 1:Open theOutlookapp > tap onNew Emailor chooseReplyon an existing email.

Step 2:After typing your email,highlight the textto hyperlink.

Step 3:Scroll through the options and tap onAdd Link.

Step 4:Paste theURLand tap theTick optionat the top right.

That’s how to add hyperlinks to your Outlook emails via the mobile Outlook app.

Note:On Mac, hyperlinks can be inserted directly without selecting a text.Click on theMessage taband provide the link and text.The link will be inserted into the email.

If you realize there has been an error after inserting a link into a text in your Outlook Email, you can edit the hyperlink using the following steps:

Step 1:Launch theappand go to thehyperlinked text.

Step 2:Right-click theselected text> chooseEdit Hyperlink.

Step 4:In the Address field of the dialog box,edit the existing linkor paste a new link into the box.

Step 5:Click onOkto save the changes made to the hyperlink.

You can delete hyperlinks from a Microsoft Outlook email. Here’s how it works:

Step 1:Launch theOutlook app> select thetextwith the hyperlink.

Step 2:Right-clickon your selection to reveal the shortcut menu.

Step 3:Scroll through the menu options and click onRemove Hyperlink; this should delete the link from the text.

You can repeat the process for all the hyperlinks you need to delete.
