What Are Facebook Story Highlights
Highlights are like photo albums where you can sort stories in different folders according to their content. You can add a cover picture and give a title to highlights. Just like stories, even highlights play like a slideshow.
Note: Not just stories, you can now add content from your Camera roll, photos previously posted on Facebook, and photos you’re tagged in.
Can You Make Highlight After The Story Disappears
Yes, highlights are created using thestory archive feature, which stores the disappearing stories that have hit the 24-hour time limit of being live. The story archive is private and not visible to anyone else.
However, highlights are public. Regardless of your story’s initial privacy setting, the stories in the highlight will be visible to anyone who visits your profile.
Can You Make Highlight From Messenger Stories
Yes, both yourFacebook and Messenger storiescan be added to your Story Archive. So, you can add stories to your profile as highlights. However, you can only create highlights on Facebook and those highlights aren’t accessible on Messenger.
How to Create Facebook Highlights
There are a few ways to create new highlights. Let’s check them all.
Method 1. Create Highlight From Active Stories
Note: You can only create a highlight with an active story via this method, you can’t add expired stories.
After publishing a story, launch theFacebook appand tap theYour Storyoption under Stories. That’ll open your latest story. Tap theHighlight iconat the top-right corner.
Here, eithercreate a new highlightor select from anexisting one. When creating a new highlight type in itstitle, set acover photo,andAdd moreif you want to add more stories to the highlight. Lastly, tapDone.
Alternatively, you can visit yourFacebook profile> tap yourprofile photo>View story→highlight icon(top-right corner) → create the highlight and tapDone.
Method 2. Add Stories to New or Old Highlight From Archive
Note: You can add any active or old stories (that have already expired) to an old or new highlight. However, this method is limited to stories, you can’t add other photos to highlight.
Step 1:Go to yourFacebookprofile. Tap the three-dot icon (next to Edit Profile).
Step 2:SelectArchivefrom the options. On the next page, tapStory Archivefrom the top.
Step 3: Select thestory/storiesyou want to add to highlight.
Step 4:Tap theHighlight. Choose anexisting highlightor tapCreate new highlight(add name, cover photo) andDone.
Method 3. Create Highlight From Your Profile
Note: The Highlight section will only show on your profile after you’ve created at least one highlight. You can add any available content from the camera, posted photos or tagged photos.
Go to theprofile screenon the mobile apps. Scroll down to theStory Highlightssection.
Manage Facebook Highlights
Remove Story from a Highlight
Tap and hold thehighlightwith the story you want to delete and selectEdit Story highlight. On the next screen,uncheck the storythat you want to remove and tapDone.
Alternatively, you can open thehighlight, tap thethree-dot iconfrom the top-right corner and selectEdit Highlight.
Edit Highlight Title and Cover
You can assign unique names and cover images to your highlights. To do so, follow these steps:
Step 1:Tap and hold the highlight on your profile screen. Select theEdit Story Highlightoption.
Step 2: On the Edit Story Highlight screen, give the new name underEdit Nameand tap the picture underEdit Coverto change its cover photo.
Just like Instagram, you canadd cover pictures from a gallery. So choose an apt cover for your highlight.
Delete Highlights
To delete a highlight from your profile, tap and hold the highlight that you want to edit. From the options that you get, tapDelete Highlight, and thenOK.
Note:Once deleted you can’t recover the highlight. However, this does not delete your stories from the archive. You can create a new highlight anytime from the archives.
Story Highlights Not Working
If you cannot create highlights, you should check if the story archive feature is enabled or not. To do so, follow these steps:
Step 1: From yourFacebook profile page, tap thethree-dot icon. SelectStory Archivefrom the top
Step 2: Here, if the archive feature is disabled, you’ll see a notification. Toggle on the Switch next toTurn on archive.
FAQs For Facebook Story Highlights
Yes. However, you can’t add the story to multiple highlights at once. You’ll have to do so one by one.
No, at the time of writing Facebook doesn’t allow you to change the privacy settings of Highlights.
No. While you can see who viewed yourFacebook Story, the feature is not extended to highlights (as of writing).
