How to Add Stickers to Photos or Videos on iPhone

Let’s explore some options to add a sticker to a picture or video on an iPhone.
Method 1. Use the Photos App
Note: The following method only works for images, you can’t add stickers to videos via the photos app.
If your iPhone is running iOS 17 or higher, use the Photos app to put stickers on photos. Follow the steps below.
Step 1:OpenPhotosandselect an imageyou want to edit.
Step 2:TapEdit. Select themarkup toolat the top.
Step 3:Tap +in the bottom-right corner and selectAdd Sticker.
Step 4:You can use emoji, memoji, custom stickers (shown in the next section), or other sticker packs. Tap thestickeryou want to add.
Step 5:Place the stickeranywhere, and resize it. Tap thethree-dot menuto cut, copy, duplicate, or delete it.
Create a Custom Sticker on iPhone
You can also create a custom sticker and add it to your photos. Here’s how.
Step 1: LaunchPhotosandselect the imagefor asticker.Long-tapthemain subjectand let the system detect it.
Step 2:Tap ‘Add Sticker‘ from a small floating menu.
Step 3:You can tapAdd Effectto customize the sticker look further. TapDone.
From now on, whenever you open the markup tool to add stickers, the system shows an option to use your custom stickers.
Method 2. Via Camera in Messages
Note: This method is only applicable to videos you record at the time, you can’t use it to add stickers to existing videos in your camera roll. Although you can add stickers to photos from the gallery.
The Messages app lets you add stickers to a photo using the built-in camera. Of course, your iPhone needs to run the latest iOS version before you follow these steps:
Step 1:Open theMessages appandcomposea new message.
Step 2:Tap the+ iconbeside a message box and selectCamera.Capture an imageorRecord a video.
Note: You can also select Photos and choose an existing photo to add stickers.
Step 3:Select theEffects iconat the bottom-left corner.
Step 4:Now, selectStickers,Emoji Sticker, orMemojifrom the options. HitDoneand thenSend.
You can long-press on the image and save it to your device gallery.
Method 3. Use Apple Clips to Put Stickers on Videos
Clipsis a free app from Apple to create fun videos on the go. You can make immersive videos with several filters, dynamic music, animated text, emojis, stickers, and more.
Unlike the Messages app, you can import any of your existing videos from the device storage and add stickers. Follow the steps below.
Step 1:Download Clipsfrom the App Store.
Step 2:OpenClips, and the app launches the video camera. Record or import a video.
Step 3:Tap theEffects (star) iconat the bottom right corner.
Step 4:Open theemoji, Memoji, or animated stickersmenu. Tap the sticker you want to add to a video.
Step 5:Hit theShare iconand thenSave Video.
You can find your edited video in the Photos app.
Method 4. Use WhatsApp to Add Stickers to Photos Or Videos on iPhone
You can useWhatsApp to add stickersto a photo or video before sharing it with someone on the platform. You can even start a chat with yourself on WhatsApp and send edited pictures to it.
Download the edited photos or videos to your phone and easily share them on other platforms. Here’s what you need to do.
Step 1:OpenWhatsAppon your iPhone. Selectany conversationor your personal chat.
Step 2:Tap +at the bottom and selectPhotos & Video Library.
Step 3:Select aphoto/videoon which you want to add stickers. Tap theemojiicon at the top.
Step 4:You can add stickers from existing sticker packs or move to the emoji menu.
Step 5:Add as many stickers as you like to your image and hitSend.
If you want to use the edited picture or video elsewhere, save it on your phone. Open the same video, tap the share icon at the bottom-left corner, and selectSave.
Open the Photos app on your iPhone and share your edited pictures or videos with others. However, note that WhatsApp compresses the media while sending it, to avoid thatsend HD photos and videos.
Note:You can alsoimport Memoji stickers to WhatsAppand add them to your videos or photos.
Method 5. Use Facebook Messenger to Put Stickers
Facebook Messenger also comes with capable video editing features to add stickers. Here are the steps to pin stickers to a moving object in Messenger.
Step 1:OpenFacebook Messengerand open any chat thread.
Step 2:Tap thegallery iconand select avideo/photo. TapEdit.
Step 3:Select thesticker iconat the top. Select astickeryou want to add.
Step 4:You can resize the sticker and drop it to a relevant place. TapSaveat the bottom-left corner to download the edited video to the device storage.
Method 6. Use Telegram to Add Stickers to Photos on iPhone
Telegram offers even more features when adding stickers to a video or photo. You can add standard stickers or utilize animated ones and download the photo as a GIF or video.
The app comes with a ‘Saved Messages’ chat to save text, photos, and videos for personal use. You can add stickers on a photo and save it to the device gallery.
Step 1:LaunchTelegramand open theSaved Messageschat.
Step 2:Tap thepin iconat the bottom and select apictureorvideo. It will open the default editor menu in Telegram.
Step 3:Select thehighlighter iconat the bottom. Move to theSticker tab.
Step 4:Select a relevant sticker from the default sticker gallery. You can resize the sticker too.
Note: If you add animated stickers to a photo, Telegram will convert it into a video.
Step 5:Tap thecheckmarkat the bottom-right corner to save the edit. Hitsendand check your edited photo in Telegram.
Step 6:Long-presson the edited image and hitSave Image. If it’s a video, you can save it as a GIF or video.
You can open the Photos app on your iPhone and find your edited pictures or videos to share. You can also use other apps like Instagram, Snapchat, etc., to add stickers to photos on your iPhone and save them to your gallery.
