Block WhatsApp Numbers Saved in Contacts

Before we tell you how to block WhatsApp messages from unknown numbers, you might also want to know how to block WhatsApp contacts. It’s simple, but for those unaware, here’s how it’s done.

Step 1:Open thechat windowof the contact you want to block. Tap on thenameat the top.

Step 2:Select theBlockbutton at the bottom. You can unblock the contact again using the same button that would now say Unblock.

Block Unknown WhatsApp Numbers Not in Contacts

If you’ve received a message from an unknown number, here’s how to block them.

Step 1:Open thechat windowin WhatsApp. Tap onBlockat the bottom.

Step 2:Check the box forReport contactif it’s a spammy message or an attempted scam. If it’s a friend you want to avoid, simply Block them.

Note:When reporting a WhatsApp number, the number is added to a Watchlist maintained by WhatsApp. If the number is reported multiple times by many users, it will be banned temporarily. Think of it as a warning to curb spam. WhatsApp may ban the number permanently at its sole discretion.

How to Block Businesses From Sending You Messages on WhatsApp

Of late, several businesses have started sending order updates and promotions on WhatsApp. While those discount codes can be helpful at times, most messages are spam. So, here’s how to block a business on WhatsApp.

Step 1:Open thechat windowwhere you’ve received the message from a business. At the bottom, you will see two options:BlockandContinue. You know which option to pick.

Step 2:Enter the reason for blocking the business. You can also choose to report. Once done, hit theBlockbutton.

If you’ve blocked contact on WhatsApp, they cannot directly message you again. However, they can still message you in a common group.

If you block a contact on WhatsApp, both calls and messages from them will be blocked.

You must unblock a contact if you wish to message them again.
