How to Change Weather Location on iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch

How to Change the Default Location in the Weather App on iPhone and iPad

Method 1: Enable Location Services to Show the Weather of the Current Location Automatically

If theApple Weather appis showing weather data for Cupertino, any other location than the current location, or no weather data at all, you must enable location services on your iPhone. Doing so will automatically show the weather details of your current location.

To set the iPhone’s weather to your current location, follow these steps:

Step 1: Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.

Step 2:Go to Privacy & Security, followed by Location Services.

Step 3: Enable the toggle next to Location Services.

Step 4:Scroll down and tap on Weather. Select Always.

Step 5: Open the Weather app on your iPhone and you will see the weather of your current location. The default location and the associated weather information will change automatically if you change your location.

Method 2: Manually Set a Default Location

Typically, when location services are enabled for the Weather app, your current location will always show on the first screen. If it doesn’t appear, you canchange the weather locationmanually and keep your preferred location as the default location in the Weather app.

To add a default location manually in the Weather app on iPhone, follow these steps:

Step 1:Open the Weather app on your iPhone or iPad.

Step 2:Tap on the List icon at the bottom on iPhone. And on iPad, tap on the Sidebar icon at the top-left corner.

Step 3:Search for the location whose weather information you want to see. Tap on it from the search results.

Step 4:Press the Add button to add it to the list of selected locations

Step 5:Long-press on the location card and drag it to the top. Now, you will see the weather of this location.

How to Change Weather Widget Location on iPhone or iPad

By default, theweather widget on your iPhonewill show the weather for your current location. But if it’s showing Cupertino or any other location, use these steps to change the location on the weather widget:

Step 1:Long-press the Weather widget on your iPhone.

Step 2: Select Edit Widget from the menu. Then, tap on Location.

Step 3: Select the preferred location from the list. Or use the search bar to find a new location.

How to Change Apple Watch Weather Location (For Widget or Complication)

To change the location whose weather shows on the weather widget or complication of your Apple Watch, you must change the default city for the Weather app. You can do that from the Apple Watch itself or your iPhone.

Method 1: From Apple Watch

Step 1: Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch.

Step 2: Scroll down and tap on Weather.

Step 3:Tap on Default City and choose the location whose temperature or weather you want to track. The selected location will show on the weather widget and complication.

Note: If you want to set Apple Watch weather to the current location, select the Current Location option. In case the weather data doesn’t show or update on Apple Watch, learnhow to fix it.

You can change the default city for the Apple Watch weather app from your iPhone too.

Step 1:Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.

Step 2: Tap on Weather, followed by Default City. Choose any preferred location.

FAQs

Open the Weather app on your iPhone and tap the List icon at the bottom-right corner. Then, tap on the three-dot icon and select Celsius. Alternatively, select Units under the three-dot icon and select Celsius. Changing it on the iPhone will change it for the Apple Watch too.

Long-press on your watch face and tap on Edit. Swipe left to go to the Complications screen. Tap on a complication and select Weather. Choose the weather conditions that you want to show, like temperature, UV index, rain, etc.
