How to Change YouTube Music Playlist Cover

Change Playlist Cover on Mobile

The YouTube Music mobile app lets you change the playlist cover by picking it up from the first track in your playlist.

Step 1:Open theYouTube Music appon the iPhone or Android and go to theLibrary tab.

Step 2:Navigate to thePlaylistsmenu. Here, you will see all the created and saved playlists with image covers, names, and number of songs.

Step 3:Select the playlist where you want tochange the thumbnail.

Step 4:From the following menu, you will see how YouTube picks up the album cover from the playlist’s first song.

Step 5:Here, you can change thePlaylist name, add a description, make it public,andeven add a collaborator. Use drag and drop to place the song at the top whose album cover you want to use as the playlist thumbnail.

Step 6:HitDoneat the upper right corner, and you will immediately notice the change.

Change Playlist Cover on Desktop

YouTube offers a web and aProgressive Web App(PWA). Both have the same UI and functions. Follow the steps to change the playlist cover on the web.

Step 1:VisitYouTube Musicon your desktop andsign inusing your Google account.

Step 2:Go to theLibrarytab at the top.

Step 3:Navigate toPlaylistsand select theplaylist.

Step 4:Here, if you tap on theEdit Playlist button, you can only change the playlist’s name, description, and privacy.

Step 5:To change the song order, use drag and drop whilekeeping your favorite songat the top.

Step 6:Tap on theback button, and theYouTube Music playlistwill automatically adopt the cover photo from the first song/album in the queue.

What Is the Default Playlist Cover on YouTube Music

When you add songs from different albums to a playlist, YouTube organizes them in the playlist.YouTube Musicpicks up the album cover from the first song you add to a playlist. For example, if you have added ‘Let It Go’ from Frozen movie as the top song in the playlist, you will see the Frozen movie cover.
