But what does this number mean, and what does it say about the battery? Let’s find out.
Why Does the Battery Health Drop on My Apple Watch?
When the Apple Watch is out of the box, the battery health is at its peak one hundred percent. Over time, the lithium-ion battery undergoes several cycles that involve charging and discharging it.
During the process of charging or discharging a battery, lithium ions flow between the anode and the cathode. Due to a few unfavorable reactions over time, mainly due to heat, the amount of available lithium ions for conduction is reduced, which degrades the battery.
How Quickly Does the Battery Health Decline on Apple Watch?
Apple says that it is normal for battery health to drop by 20 percent in two years. I’ve been using my Apple Watch for a little over a year, and the battery health currently stands at 96%.
If the battery health drops by five percent or more in a month, you should contact Apple’s customer support. They’ll help you diagnose any issue with the battery.
What Is the Lifespan of the Battery on an Apple Watch?
The battery on your Apple Watch is expected to perform well and last around 2-3 years. When the battery health percentage drops below 80 percent, you should replace it for the best performance.
If you have a valid Apple Care+ plan for your Apple Watch, you’ll get a free replacement if the percentage drops below eighty.
