How to Create and Use Polls in WhatsApp

On Mobile
You can create polls in both personal chats and groups. Since we are talking about taking a vote from other users, this function is useful for WhatsApp groups. You can, however, use it in private chats as well. Here’s how to do it on the WhatsApp mobile app.
Step 1:OpenWhatsAppon your phone and tap on the relevantgrouporchat. Then, tap on thepin iconand tap onPoll.
Note:iOS users can tap on the+ iconin the bottom left corner and then tap onPoll.
Step 2:Here, enter yourquestionandadd optionsfor it. You can use theside buttonsto rearrange the options.
Tip:Enable theAllow multiple answerstoggle to allow participants to vote for multiple options.
Step 3:Once all the options have been added, tap on theSendbuttonat the bottom-right corner of the WhatsApp Android app. iOS users can tap onSendin the top-right corner.
Tap on theView votesto see who has voted for what option.

On Desktop
Just like the WhatsApp mobile app, you can also create polls when using the WhatsApp desktop app. This can come in handy if you’re predominantly a desktop user. Follow the below steps to do it.
Step 1:OpenWhatsAppon your computer and go to the relevantgrouporconversation. Click on thepin iconand click onPoll.
Step 2:Now, enter yourquestionand add therelevant options. Check theAllow multiple answersoption to allow votes for more than one option.
Step 3:Once done, click on theSend buttonto create the poll.
Once the poll is live, you can occasionally click on theView votesoption to check who has cast their vote for which option.
How to Delete a Poll on WhatsApp
Unfortunately, there is no way to edit or end a poll once it has been created in WhatsApp. In this case, if you have accidentally posted a wrong poll or if it is no longer required, you can delete it on WhatsApp. You will be able to delete the poll for everyone only if you have created it in the first place. Here’s how.
On iPhone
Step 1:OpenWhatsAppand go to therelevant chat. Long-press thepolland tap onDelete.
Step 2:Then, tap on thebin iconin the bottom-left corner.
When prompted, tap onDelete for Everyoneto delete the poll for everyone in the selected chat.
On Android
Step 1:OpenWhatsAppand in therelevant chat, long-press on thepoll. Once the option becomes available, tap on thebin icon.
Step 2:Then, tap onDelete for everyone.
On Desktop
Step 1:OpenWhatsAppand go to therelevant chat. Right-click on thepolland click onDelete.
Step 2:Here, click onDelete for everyone.

Bonus: How to Pin a Poll on WhatsApp
To make your poll easily accessible and visible to everyone in the group, you can pin it in the chat on WhatsApp. This will ensure your poll stays at the top of the chat until the set time limit. Here’s how to do it.
On iPhone
Step 1:OpenWhatsAppand long-press thepoll. Here, tap onPin.
Step 2:When prompted, select thepin duration.
On Android
Step 1:OpenWhatsAppand long-press thepoll. Then, tap on thepush pin icon.
Step 2:From the options, select thepin durationand tap onPin.
This will ensure the message stays pinned for the set duration. Once it is no longer required, unpin the poll from the chat window in WhatsApp.
