How to Find Zoom Meeting Password on Mobile and PC

Were you trying to join a Zoom meeting when you were shown a ‘Enter Zoom meeting password’ pop-up? Now you must wonder, ‘where is my Zoom password?’ And why does Zoom suddenly require a password? Following several complaints of ‘Zoombombing’ incidents, Zoom turns on passwords and waiting roomsby default. No need to worry for it is easy to find the password on Zoom. Let’s see how to do that.
Earlier, you only needed the meeting ID or an invitation link to join a meeting on Zoom. While it was an easy process, its implications were bad. That’s why the need to introducepasswords for every meetingconducted on Zoom.
Without making you wait further, let’s find out the Zoom meeting password on Windows PC or mobile.
Why Is Zoom Asking for Meeting Passwords
While Zoom app downloadshave skyrocketedin the past few months, it’s been under heavy scrutiny as well. The criticism regarding its lack of privacy is concerning. While some reports suggested that Zoom isn’t end-to-end protected, others face the issue ofZoom bombing, where unwanted participants could join your meetings.
In a bid to resolve the Zoom bombing, Zoom has activated the password feature by default for all meetings. So, any new meeting that you create willhave a passwordnow. That way, only the people that have the password are authorized to join your meeting.
In addition to passwords, now you need add people to your meeting manually. That’s because all participants are hosted in a virtual waiting room that is enabled by default. Only when the host accepts them, they will join a meeting.
Do We Need to Create a Password
No. The password is created automatically by Zoom. You don’t have to do anything.
How to Find Zoom Meeting Password
The Zoom password is visible to the host of the meeting only who needs to share it with other participants.
Here’s how to find Zoom passwords on PC and mobile apps (Android and iOS).
Find Zoom Password on Windows 10
There are two ways to do so.
Step 1: Launch the Zoom app on your PC.
Step 2:Click on New Meeting.
Step 3:You will see the Password written on the window that opens. You need to share it with others who will join via a meeting ID.
Alternatively, if you invite them via a link, the password is attached to the invitation URL in an encrypted form. Notice the ‘pwd’ in the link? The alphanumeric text after the equal sign is the password. The receiver needs to click on the link. The password box will not show up as the link now has the password.
Similarly, for meetings created with your Personal Meeting ID, click on the small down arrow on the Zoom app home screen. Click on your meeting ID and select Copy Invitation.
Paste the invitation in your email, chat, etc. You will get an invitation link with a password attached to it. The password is also mentioned separately if the link doesn’t work for some reason. Enter the Meeting ID along with the password.
For that, click on the tiny ‘i’ icon at the top-left corner of the meeting screen. You will see your meeting details, such as invitation link, password, and more. Share the password with the meeting participants.
View Password for Scheduled Meetings
If you have ameeting scheduled, you need to share the password with others. You can either resend them the new invitation link or share the password.
For that, click on the Meetings tab present at the top in the Zoom desktop app. There you will find your scheduled meetings. Click on Show Meeting invitation to view details such as password and updated invitation link.
Find Zoom Password on Android and iPhone
If you are creating a new meeting, click on the New Meeting icon in the Zoom app followed by Start a Meeting. You will find the meeting password mentioned above just below the meeting ID.
Note:Look for the password at the same place in the case of the on-going meetings.
Alternatively, tap on Participants present at the bottom. Then, choose Invite.
Either select an app or tap on Copy URL. The invitation URL will have the password attached to it.
How to Use Zoom Password
As a host, your job is to share the password with the participants. As mentioned before, if an updated invitation link is shared, then no need to share the password separately as the password is attached to the link.
As a participant, you only need to click on the invitation link. If you are joining via a Meeting ID, then you will have to type the password manually.
How to Disable Zoom Password
Let me be clear. The host cannot remove the Zoom meeting passwords. Even though an option is available in the Zoom settings, Zoom admin has locked it. That means a password is required for all Zoom meetings for now.
However, you can change the password for meetings created with your Personal Meeting ID. For that, open the linkzoom.us/profile/setting. Scroll down, and you will see ‘Require a password for Personal Meeting ID’ option. Click on the edit icon next to the password. Type a new password.

Update App
You should start by updating your Zoom app wherever you use it. Also, restarting your laptop or phone running Zoom would be a good choice too.
Be Patient
Take a deep breathand type the password shared by your host carefully and slowly. Hopefully, that should do the trick.
Check Num Lock
On your PC, you should take a look at the Num Lock key. When enabled, you can use the numbers on the key. And, if it is disabled, the numbers will not work. So, press the Num Lock key to enable the numbers. Then, try entering the Zoom password again.
Confirm With Host
Sometimes, the host ends the meeting even though you have the necessary details. So confirm with your host if the meeting still exists.
Change Is Good
You may not like the idea of an extra step of entering a password to join a meeting. But, in today’s world, it was a necessary step that needed to be taken. We hope Zoom keeps on adding such privacy-related features to their app.
