Why Is My Phone Saying USB Connector Connected and Disconnected?

Before troubleshooting this issue, let us quickly look at why you might see this error on your Samsung Galaxy and Android devices.

Basic Fixes:

Fix 1: Clear Cache and Data for USB Settings

Your device’s USB settings also collect cache to improve performance. However, if this cache gets corrupted, it can cause your device to show disconnected/connected warnings constantly. To fix this, clear the cache and data for the USB settings on your Android device. Follow the below steps to do it.

Step 1:OpenSettingsand tap onApps. Tap on theFilter and sorticon.

Step 2:Turn on theShow system appstoggle and tap onOK. Tap onUSBSettings.

Step 3:Tap onStorageand tap onClear cache.

Step 4:Then, tap onClear data. When prompted, tap onDelete.

This will clear the cache and delete all the data for USB settings on your Android device. Once done, try connecting and disconnecting your device to USB.

Fix 2: Ensure USB Charging Is Selected

If your device is set to recognize USB for anything other than charging, it might trigger a constant disconnect/connect notification once you disconnect the charger. If so, use the developer options and set it to recognize the USB to charge the phone. Here’s how.

Step 1:OpenSettingsand tap onAbout phone. Tap onSoftware informationand tap onBuild numberfive or seven times quickly.

Step 2:Enter your devicePINorpasswordand go back to the mainSettingsmenu.

Step 3:Tap onDeveloper optionsand turn on the toggle forUSB debugging.

Step 4:Go to the Networking section and tap onDefault USB configuration. SelectCharging phone only.

If you have been using another brand’s charge, it might cause issues over time as the charger’s energy output might not be enough for your device. We recommend using the official brand original charger when charging your Android phone.
