Why Can’t I Flip Camera While Recording Videos

For most iOS and Android devices (except for Samsung Galaxy), you can’t flip the camera while you are recording a video. At least not natively in the camera app.

However, social media apps like Instagram, WhatsApp, Snapchat, etc., and some third-party apps can come to your rescue. In this post, we have given detailed instructions to create such videos.

Create Videos Using Social Apps

You can flip the camera while recording videos on either Android or iPhone through apps like Instagram, WhatsApp, Snapchat, Facebook Messenger, etc. The best part is that you just have to tap the screen to do so.

I’ll show you an example, the process is pretty much the same across all supported social media platforms.

Step 1: OpenWhatsAppand go toany chat. You can also create or share this video with yourself.

Step 2: Tap the+ iconand selectCamera option.

Step 3:Choose either the front or back camera to start recording. When you want to flip the camera, simplytap the screen.

You can flip the camera as many times as you need. When done, tap the recording button to stop recording. Now, edit the video, add stickers or something as per your liking, and send this video in the chat.

Remember tosend the video in HDto ensure you get the best possible quality. The video should besaved in your gallery.

Use a Third-Party App

You can also use a third-party camera app to flip the camera while recording videos. The key benefit of using such apps is that you can simultaneously record from front and back cameras.

Moreover, you also get additional video editing features. However, the one downside is that some features may be locked under a subscription. For illustration purposes, I am using MixCam, available on bothiOSandAndroidit’s a pretty deft app.

Step 1: Open theMixCam appand choose the video style you want to record.

Step 2: Record the video as you like.

Until Android and iOS smartphones start supporting this feature natively, you have to rely on third-party apps to flip the camera while recording videos.
