Fix 1. Search for the Person on Instagram
The easiest way to know if someoneblocked or restrictedyou is to look for their Instagram profile. Search their name or Instagram handle using theInstagram search, and if the account doesn’t appear under the search results, it’s deactivated (highly unlikely), or you are blocked.
In the rare chance that you can see the profile, one of these things will happen:
Fix 2. Check Profile
When someone blocks you, Instagram doesn’t delete theirold commentsor tags from your profile. If their profile isn’t accessible through search, use these old comments to visit their profile. If the profile shows the post count without the posts, you have been blocked.
Fix 3. Check Their Instagram Profile in Web Browser
You can view Instagram profiles by the linkhttps://instagram.com/using any browser. If you remember the username of the person who has blocked you (and I’m pretty sure you do), replace the term username in the link with the actual username of the profile.
Then, if you are logged in from your profile, you will get the error ‘Sorry, this page isn’t available’ if the person has blocked you.
There’s a slim chance that the person might have deactivated their account. To confirm that, log out from your Instagram profile on the browser or open the incognito mode and open their profile via the link. If the profile is accessible, the news is true, but if the profile doesn’t open for them, too, you are fine.
Fix 4. Try Sending Them a Message
Blocking someone on Instagram stops interaction between the two accounts, so you can’tsend Direct Messages (DM)to each other. Try sending them messages;if they do not respond, you may have been blocked.
However, it could also mean that they are busy or something. If you’re in a group chat where you both are members, you can see if they reply to the chat. You can also try to add them to a group. If you’re blocked you can’t invite them to join an existing or new group chat.
Fix 5. Check From a Different Phone or Profile
Lastly, the undemanding and painless way is to check from a different account. If you havetwo Instagram accounts, open their profile from the second account. And, if you own a single profile, ask yourclose friendor a family member to look up the profile.
If the profile opens normally, it’s time to reflect on your bad deeds that made the person block you. evil grin
Fix 6. Try Following the Same Account Again
Lastly, if you can view their profile somehow, try following them by tapping on the Follow button. If you are blocked, you can’t follow the person. Tapping the Follow button will do nothing, and you will see the same button again. Instagram won’t notify them about it.
But if they haven’t blocked you, tapping the Follow button will make you follow that person, and Instagram will notify them about it. I know it’s risky, but sometimes, you must take extreme steps.
FAQs
If you have a past DM history with the account, you can open it and send as many messages as possible. But since the person has blocked you on Instagram, none of the messages will reach their account. Even if the person unblocks you in the future, Instagram won’t deliver any messages you send during the block period.
UnlikeWhatsApp, Instagram doesn’t hide profile pictures from blocked accounts. Even though you are blocked, you can still see the person’s profile photo.
No. However, you can see a list of accounts that you’ve blocked. You can check the full list from the Privacy menu in Settings.
