How to See and Recover Blocked Messages

If you are using the Google Messages app as the default messaging app on your Android phone, we have some sad news. You cannot see messages from the contacts that you have blocked. However, messages are automatically reported as spam and placed in the blocked folder. Those mainly consist of promotional messages.

Follow these steps to see the Spam and blocked folder in the Google Messages app:

Step 1:Open the Google Messages app on your phone.

Step 2:Tap thethree-bar iconat the top-left corner and selectSpam & Blocked.

Step 3:Here, you will see promotional messages categorized as spam by the Google Messages app. As already mentioned, blocked personal messages will not appear here. Tap on a spam message that you want to restore and move it to your inbox.

Step 4: Tap theNot Spamoption to restore the blocked message to your inbox.

Samsung

If you useSamsung Messages instead of Google Messageson your Samsung Galaxy phone, you get an option to see and restore blocked text messages. Follow these steps to see text messages from someone you blocked on your Samsung device:

Step 1:Open the Samsung Messages app on your phone.

Step 2: Tap thethree-dot iconat the top and go toSettings.

Step 3:Tap onBlock numbers and spamfollowed byBlockedmessages.

Step 4:Here, you will see the messages from the numbers that you have blocked. Press the message thread you want to restore and theRestore allbutton. Alternatively, press theUnblock numberto remove the number from the block list.

Step 5:To restore multiple or all message threads, tap theEditbutton. Then, select the messages you want to retrieve and press theRestore allbutton.

No, you will not receive messages sent when the number was blocked unless you have a Samsung Galaxy phone that allows you to see blocked messages anytime.

No, a blocked number will not be notified when you block them. However, when they try to call you, their call might get disconnected immediately, which might raise eyebrows.

  1. Is there a way to see blocked messages on WhatsApp?

Sadly, no. You cannot see blocked messages on WhatsApp.
