How to Upload an Unlisted or Private Video on YouTube

On Web Browser

Step 1:OpenYouTubeon your web browser. Click on thevideocam iconat the top right corner >Upload video.

Step 2:Select the file you want to upload. Tap onNextand continue by adding the relevant details.

Step 3:Once you reach the Visibility option, check the box forUnlistedorPrivateand click onSave.

On YouTube Mobile App

Step 1:Open the YouTube app on your device. Tap on thePlus iconin the bottom ribbon >Upload a video.

Step 2:Select the video you want to upload. Preview the video and tap onNext. Tap onVisibility.

Step 3:Ensure it is set toUnlistedorPrivate. Tap onNext, select whether your video is suitable for kids, and Upload it.

Once you upload a video on YouTube and set the visibility to unlisted, you can share the video link with your friends and family. Hence, only the ones with the link can exclusively watch the videos.

For Private videos, you must invite people using their email addresses.

On Web

Step 1:Open YouTube on your browser and click onYour videos.

Step 2:Hover the mouse around the video you want to share and click on thethree dots icon.

Step 3:Click onGet shareable link.

The link will be copied to your clipboard and you can share it with your friends and family so they can watch the video.

Step 4:ForPrivatevideos, click onPrivateunder the visibility of your video.

Step 5:Now, click onShare Privately. Add the email addresses of the people you want to invite and click onDone.

On YouTube App (Unlisted Videos Only)

Unfortunately, you can only share Unlisted YouTube videos on the mobile app.

Step 1:Open the YouTube app on your device. Tap onLibraryand selectYour videos.

Step 2:Tap on thethree-dot iconbelow the video you want to share. Now, tap onShare video.

Hence, you can share your unlisted videos by using the given sharing options.

How to Make Your Existing YouTube Videos Unlisted or Private

Here’s how to change the visibility of an existing public video to make it unlisted or private.

On Web

Step 1:Open YouTube on your browser and click onYour videos.

Step 2:Now, click on thepublic iconunderVisibility.

Step 3:Check the box forUnlistedto change the visibility and click onSave.
