What Exactly Is Your Skype ID
Skype ID is also known as Skype Name. It is the original username you created when you first signed up for the platform. You can change the display name shown to your contacts anytime, but you cannot change your Skype ID once it’s created.
If you use yourMicrosoft account, such as Outlook or Hotmail, to sign up for Skype, your Skype ID will be your Microsoft account email.
So, if someone asks for your Skype ID, you must share your username. Alternatively, if you have a verified email address and phone number associated with your Skype account, you can share them with others.
How to Find Your Skype Name
Step 1:Open the Skype app on your PC, click thethree-dot icon, and selectSettings.

You should have “live” before your username if you did not use a Microsoft account.
How to Find Other’s Skype Name
If you are already connected with someone on Skype, you can easily find their Skype name by opening the chat window, clicking on their profile picture, and scrolling to the bottom to see their Skype name.
If you don’t have the person added to your Skype, then you can use the search option to search for the person and browse people through the Skype directory.
Alternatively, you can find the person using their email or phone number and then check their Skype name.

Changing your Skype Name or ID is impossible, especially if you created your Skype account using your Microsoft account. However, you can always go to your profile and change the Skype display name shown to your contacts.

Yes, you can use your Skype Name to login to your account. Alternatively, you can use your account’s email address or phone number. If you have created your Skype account using your Microsoft account, you can also use it.
Do I Need to Include “live” in My Skype Name?
If your Skype name includes “live:”, typical for accounts created without a Microsoft account, you must include “live:” when logging into your Skype account. If you have an old Skype account, there is no need to include “live:”. Instead, you will need to use your username.
