Snapchat Mute Chat vs Mute Story: What’s the Difference

How Does Mute Chat or Mute Story Work on Snapchat
The “Mute Chat” feature on Snapchat allows you to silence notifications from a contact or group, similar tomuting contacts or groups on WhatsApp. Meanwhile, the “Mute Story” feature hides stories from specific friends without removing them from your list. Muted stories are moved to the end of the list and won’t appear in the slideshow; you’ll need to open them manually to view them.
Can You Contact Each Other After Enabling These Features
With both “Mute Chat” and “Mute Story,” the other person can still message you on Snapchat. Muting a chat only hides notifications while keeping messages in your inbox. Conversely, muting stories prevents you from seeing their stories, butthey can still view yours. In either case, they won’t be notified if you mute their chats or stories.
How to Mute or Unmute a Chat on Snapchat
Step 1:Launch Snapchat, find the friend who you want to mute, and long press on their name.
Step 2:SelectChat and Notification Settings.
Step 3:Go toNotification Settings, enable the toggle next toMute Chats, and hitDone. You can also use theMute Callsoption to silence calls from that friend if necessary.
If you want to unmute the chat later, simply repeat the above steps and turn off the Mute Chats option.
How to Use Mute or Unmute Stories From Someone on Snapchat
Step 1:Launch Snapchat, find the friend who you want to mute, and long press on their name.
Step 2:TapStory Settingsand enable theMute Storytoggle. Then, hitMuteto confirm.
To unmute the stories from a friend later, simply repeat the above steps and turn off theMute Storyoption.
When Should Use These Features
Muting chats helps you avoid being bothered by messages from specific contacts or groups on Snapchat. You can’t enable this mode for the entire app; you need to select individual contacts or groups. If you don’t want to see someone’s stories, you can mute their stories instead.
