Why Do I See “This Content Isn’t Available at the Moment” on Facebook

There can be various reasons behind the ‘Content is not available right now’ error on Facebook. From youbeing blockedto the profile has been deleted, from a browser error to location or age restrictions. We’ve lined them all for you, just keep scrolling to know more.

Reason 1. You Are Logged Out

Before jumping to any conclusions, it’s wiser to verify that you’re properly logged in to your Facebook account. Sometimes cache or app glitches can cause such issues. So even if you feel you’re logged in, you might be logged out and not have access to the post.

To check it, refresh the page if you’re using a browser or restart the app. If the login screen pops up, you have found your culprit. Simply log in to view the post. You shouldtry logging out and into be sure that this is not some update or bug-related issue.

Reason 2. You Have Been Blocked

Basically, when someone blocks you on Facebook, you can’t view their profile, posts, and other content. And as Facebook doesn’t notify youwhen you’re blocked, we can safely assume this is a primary reason for encountering this error.

You can test the theory by searching and visiting their profile. If you can’t find the person’s profile, then the answer is obvious. Notably, while you canblock someone who has blocked you on Facebook, it’s not as straightforward as you can’t access their profile. So, you can also use this trick to find your block status.

However, if you’re not blocked, but you still see the ‘content is not available’ error, skip to the next section.

Reason 3. Facebook is Down

Congratulations if you’re not blocked. It’s time to look into other causes behind the ‘Sorry, this content isn’t available right now’ error. However, before we delve into some detective work, let’s first ensure the issue is not from Facebook’s side.

Facebook has suffered numerous blackouts, newsfeeds, and sign-in errors in the past, among others. And while the rest of the app/site is working properly, there’s a chance certain features are glitching.

One way is to view other’s posts and see if a similar error occurs or check websites likeDown Detector. It’s a handy service that reports real-time issues popular social media platforms are facing. Since it’s based on user reports you can trust it.

Reason 4. The Profile is Deleted or Deactivated

If you can’t find a profile on Facebook, it might not mean that you’re blocked. There’s a chance the user has deactivated their profile, maybe taking a break from social media. Or maybeFacebook has restricted their accountdue to some guideline violation.

Though that sounds a bit extreme or harsh, it might be the case. Again Facebook doesn’t give you these details and there is no straightforward way to figure it out. What you can try is to log out from Facebook (or try a different browser), search for the profile on Google, and see if it opens.

If the profile opens up, you are blocked and thus can’t access it when logged in to your Facebook. But if you get, the content isn’t available error, then maybe this is the cause. If you can contact the user for confirmation, do so, otherwise, don’t let the curiosity kill the cat, rather kill your curiosity for now.

Reason 5. Content Was Deleted By Owner or Facebook

Maybe there is a simple explanation behind the ‘This content isn’t available’ error on Facebook. Whether the user is from the ‘felt cute and might delete later’ school or they made a mistake, in a gist, they have deleted the post.

Or maybe Facebook deleted the post because of some guideline-related issue or another user reported the content to Facebook. And by the time you saw the notification and clicked on it, the content was deleted.

If that’s the case, buddy, you’ve got to let it go. Or if you’re close to the content owner, ask them what happened, you may be privy to the deleted post and some fun gossip.

Reason 6. You’re on the Restricted List

Blocking is not the only solution to stop someone from viewing your posts. You can also create arestricted listto do so. This setting is slightly less harsh, it does not unfriend them and they can message you, and view your profile and public posts.

However, they won’t be able to see your private posts. And might see the no posts available error when trying to access a private post. Although there is no direct way to find if you’re restricted, you can visit the person’s profile to find the truth.

Scroll through some old posts, if you can only see public posts (a globe icon under the person’s name), you might be on the restricted list. But we can’t be sure because maybe they usually make public posts, so, you’ll have to use your judgment about it.

Honestly, you can’t do much to fix content isn’t available error if you’re on the Restricted list. At most, you can enlist the help of a mutual friend to verify that you’re on the list and to see the post.

Tip: Check out the post to understand the difference betweenblock and restricted on Facebook.

Reason 7. The Content’s Privacy Settings Have Been Changed

The content owner may haveadjusted their post sharing on Facebookaka privacy settings. They may have limited the audience who can view the post and you are not included in the selected audience.

Now Facebook won’t notify you about the change and it’s not easy to find out if the post’s sharing settings have been changed. All you can do is visit their profile and check out old posts. If you can see some private posts, rest assured you’re not restricted.

But you might be restricted from viewing this particular post. Again the best you can do is connect with the user or a mutual friend to view the post and confirm the situation.

Reason 8. Check for Location or Age Restrictions

It’s possible that the user is not at fault here, it might be something on your end that is causing the ‘This content isn’t available’ error on Facebook. Namely, the content’s location and age restriction settings are not allowing you to view the post.

So when someone creates a page on Facebook, there is a way to set age restrictions, say 21. And if you’re under the age of 21, you may receive a notification but when you click the link you’ll see the content not available message instead of the post.

Notably, the page owner can change these restrictions at any time. So don’t be surprised if you were able to see it before and not now. To check if this is the reason, visit the page and see if you can view old posts or interact with posts.

If you can’t some restrictions are placed. Unfortunately, there is probably no proper workaround to this, you’ll have to accept that the post is not meant for you. The wise choice is to make peace with it.
