Automatically Save WhatsApp Photos or Videos to iPhone
TheSave to Camera Rollsetting in WhatsApp will automatically save downloaded WhatsApp pictures and videos to the Photos app. Once you receive an image in WhatsApp, you will find it in theLibrary section of the Photos appif you have enabled the Save to Camera Roll settings.
You can also see all the WhatsApp photos and videos in one place in the WhatsApp Album. To access it, tap on the Albums tab in the Photos app and locate the WhatsApp folder.

To enable the Save to Camera Roll setting in WhatsApp, follow these steps:
OpenWhatsApp > Settings > Chats > Save to Camera Roll.
Now, all the photos and videos that you receive in the future will show in the Photos app on your iPhone. If WhatsApp photos are still not showing in the Photos app, ensure WhatsApp has storage permission. In the iPhone Settings, go toWhatsApp > Photos. Grant the permission.
Manually Save Pictures or Videos from WhatsApp on iPhone
If you don’t want to save all images from WhatsApp on your iPhone, you can turn the Save to Camera Roll option off and manuallysave the pictures from WhatsAppto your iPhone’s local storage. Once saved in local storage, use it in other apps like email, etc.
Follow these steps to save WhatsApp pictures manually on your iPhone:
Step 1:Open theWhatsApp chatfrom which you want to save a picture or video on your iPhone.
Step 2: Tap thereceived phototo open it in full-screen view.
Step 3:Tap on theShare icon, followed bySaveto download the picture or video to the iPhone Photos app.

Where Are WhatsApp Documents Like PDFs Stored on iPhone
WhatsApp servers are the only ones that store WhatsApp documents by default, not your iPhone’s local storage. So, you will find them inside each chat and not in the Files app.
But you can manually save WhatsApp documents to your iPhone, as shown below.
How to Save WhatsApp Documents on iPhone
Let us suppose youreceive a PDF file in WhatsAppfrom one of your friends. Now, you want to send this file as an attachment along with some other documents.
For that, you must download the WhatsApp PDF on your iPhone first. Once downloaded, it will show in the native File Manager, i.e., the Files app of your iPhone.
Use these steps to save WhatsApp Documents in the iPhone Files app:
Step 1:Open theWhatsApp chatwith the document.
Step 2:Tap on thedocumentto open it in full-screen view.
Step 3:Press theShareicon at the bottom and then selectSave to Files.

Where Are WhatsApp Images Stored on Android Devices
When you receive images on Android through WhatsApp, they are stored in both WhatsApp servers and on your local storage. You will find them within the WhatsApp chat, the Gallery app, and a folder in the File Manager. In the Gallery app, you will find WhatsApp pictures in the WhatsApp Images folder and videos in the WhatsApp Video folder.

To find theWhatsApp images folder in File Manager, go toInternal Storage > Android > Media > com.WhatsApp > WhatsApp > Media > WhatsApp Images. Here, you will also find other folders like WhatsApp database folders, videos, audio, GIFs, etc.
Just so you know, this will work on Android 11 and above only. For Android 10 and below, the WhatsApp folder is inInternal Storage > WhatsApp.
If you want to stop WhatsApp from saving pictures to your gallery, go toSettings > Chats > Disable Media visibility.

WhatsApp documents like PDFs,high-quality images sent as documents, etc., are stored in the WhatsApp Documents folder. To access it, open any File Manager app on your Android phone and go toInternal Storage > Android > Media > com.WhatsApp > WhatsApp > Media > WhatsApp Documents.
