1. Wireless Connection Interference
One of the first reasons is the nature of the internet connection. If the TV is connected to Wi-Fi, an interruption in the connection leads to a blank thumbnail. Traffic and interference can cause some of the thumbnails to appear blank, even when you can stream other content without issues.
So, if your TV and router support dual-band Wi-Fi, switch to it. If not, if the TV has an ethernet port, you can hook up the cable and see the issue disappear. Also, contact your ISP to determine if they are blocking it because of too much bandwidth consumption.
2. DNS Issues
The issue might also occur due to the default DNS settings. In some cases, the default DNS settings provided by the internet provider fail to resolve the server’s address.
As you might know, thumbnails and the actual content are stored in different CDNs, thus making it possible to stream but not display the thumbnail.
The solution is to opt for analternative DNSat the router level on the TV itself. Go to Settings > Network and click on the connection.
3. Conflict With Cache Files
Often, a conflict in the cache files causes the missing thumbnails. In this case, a straightforward cache clearance should restore the thumbnail. All you have to do is head to Settings > Manage App andclear the cache. If this doesn’t help, reinstall the Netflix app to resolve the remaining issues.
